Saying goodbye to my best friend yesterday has been the hardest thing that I have done in my life. To honor my amazing mother I wanted to share my portion of my mother’s eulogy: Anyone who went to my dance competitions knew how loud my mother was in the audience. Everyone could always tell when she was in the audience when she was screaming “that’s my boy” or “that's my girl,” depending on which one of us was on stage. Not only did she cheer for her children, but also anyone from our dance studio. Dance was one of the many things that my sister, my mom, and myself all shared together. She was the one that introduced me to dance and I am so grateful for that. Time after time when I did not want to go to ballet class, she was the one who encouraged me to go because she knew that would make me a better dancer. And she was absolutely correct, but as she always said “mothers know what’s best for their children.” She was always the person I could go to for advice about anything. Whether it was about school, dance, or anything personal that was going on. She would always say something like “Jay, it will be okay” or “just take one day at a time.” And those are pieces of advice I have been taking into consideration during this difficult time. My mom was one of those people that was well liked by everyone she met. From her family to her friends to her co-workers to her students at the dance studio. And she was able to communicate with just about anyone. Whether it was talking to her nephews about football, telling her parents about her day at work, or having a sit-down conversation with her children. Mom, I cannot thank you enough for everything. Nicole and I are forever grateful for having an amazing mother like you in our lives. The times that we were together as a family are some of my fondest memories. From our vacations to going out to the mall to even just staying home and watching some kind of television show. But, I would say that my favorite times I had with you mom were at our dance competitions. Mom, you’ll be sorely missed by everyone, but I always know that you will forever be a part of our lives
