I made this painting in 2024 for OVACās 12x12 fundraiser and I hated it!!! It was before I learned that I donāt really like acrylic painting :,)
Luckily it sold (thank you kind stranger) and I didnāt have to look at it again until now, and hey, I actually thought āthat looks kinda sickā.
I felt the need to redeem this idea somehow with the thylacine print I made last year (there is still time for us) because I was actually really captured by this 2023 essay published about the investigation into the story of the real last documented thylacine, previously believed to be a male named Benji, when in reality it was an elderly female who had gone unreported due to her illegal capture and delivery to the zoo in which she died.
Being the soft little guy I am I was thinking a lot about the children she must have outlived or left behind. That she was the proud last stand and went unrecognized for so long.
Havenāt posted much artwork this year because Iām saving it all for a show! Workin on stickers, prints and zines and such. And I guess gouache paintings now, Iām kinda smitten. Trust Iām working hard, mom
