On February 24, 2022, russia launched an unprovoked and unlawful military invasion of Ukraine. Coverage on the conflict has drawn international attention to the ongoing oppression of Ukraine by Russia. In an effort to highlight the human cost of the war, music producer @atamandarcy and photographer @jasonwillheim traveled to Lviv, Ukraine to connect with musicians and artists and capture their experiences.
The outcome is Ukrainian Artists United @ukrainianartistsunited - a series of multi‐media portraits representing the unique story of each artist. Their stories, told through images, voice-over and music, provide insight into their lives as people who are impacted by the ongoing war.
The project features the following 11 artists: Ohla Balandiukh, Sofiya Fedyna, Bohdan Hrynko, Victor Dobko, Olena Kossak, Anna Shchybryk, Bohdan Mysyuga, Lesya Bablyak, Halyana Kruk, Marksym Salo, and Volodymyr Yakymets.
Soon, we will present this film as part of the United by Art project in Kyiv and Lviv (November, December 2025).
It has sadly popped up on my feed, a few days late, that writer, director, producer and actor Scotty Spiegel has passed away. Scotty directed From Dawn to Dusk 2, co-wrote Evil Dead 2, The Rookie, produced the film The Hostel. I photographed Scotty for the film QT8: The First Eight Films of Quentin Tarantino. Scotty is famous for introducing Quentin to Lawrence Bender, who produced Quentin’s first film Reservoir Dogs. #scottyspiegel #qt8thefirsteight
