Going to start a photo series called “What shenanigans did they pull in this wall cavity?” I took the pics to get a look at wires or where certain studs are, but I’m enjoying the textures and shadows in these usually hidden spaces.

Here’s some Reggie tongue for National Dog Day.

Once when I was a kid, maybe 8 or 9 years old, I was sitting in the living room while Dad was organizing his and Mom’s vinyl collection. I asked him if there was anything in there that I would like, and he pulled out two albums, playing a track from each. One was “Godzilla” by Blue Oyster Cult, the other was “Iron Man”, by Black Sabbath. Those two songs about monsters were my gateway into music, and shaped my taste in everything I’ve listened to since then. Ozzy’s Ozzmosis album came out my freshman year of high school. I don’t have many great memories from that year…I had just moved to Indiana from Florida, hadn’t made any friends and ate lunch by myself everyday. But Dad would drive me to school on his way to work, and we would hear “Perry Mason” on the radio almost every day for what seemed like months. I loved that song, and it was a bright spot in a mostly miserable year. There’s lots of Ozzy memories being shared today, and they’re all more interesting than mine, but he and his music (and countless bands that have been influenced by his work) have always had a presence in my life. But now he’s gone and I’m a little sad. P.S. All the cool kids drive Volvos.

Proof of life. Still chugging along on kitchen cabinets. These will be upper cabinets on either side of the stove. The far left section will be open with adjustable shelves. Other two will have glass doors, and a glass panel on the far right side. Drawers on the bottom for knives and spices.

This was supposed to be a picture with Santa at doggy daycare, but Reggie did not care for Santa and asked that he leave the room. So here’s a cute Christmas pic of Reggie. May you all have a nice stack of gifts from Saint Nick under the tree in the morning. Ours will be tossed onto the lawn.

We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel in our house…or more accurately, building a new kitchen in what was the original dining room of our house. This includes building new cabinets, and I finally got the base carcasses set yesterday. Our in-house inspectors seem to approve.
