I’m so lucky to have this incredible woman in my life. The best thing that ever happened to me. Happy birthday @haleyhougaard thank you for sharing your life with me.
Last night I had a most remarkable cinematic experience. I felt as I did some twenty five years ago, when I was first exposed to the type of visual storytelling that would cause me to fall so deeply in love with filmmaking that it would become the driving force in my life.
Great films entertain you, they transport you, but more than that, they educate and change you. They make you think things and feel things you might never have had access to without them. If they can do all of this while also providing remarkably a singular and effective visual and auditory experience, well they are a rare gem indeed.
I have been lucky enough to learn a lot from Savanah Leaf @savanahleaf over the past few years, but last night, watching her film, Earth Mama, in a packed theater was a profound experience I am entirely grateful for. She is a remarkable artist who has made an exceedingly masterful film.
Go see Earth Mama, it will make you feel things.
Didn’t think I’d ever see another one of these in the wild. For a kid who loved a good thrift store it was a real treat to visit our hometown Wonder Bread / Hostess Thrift Bakery followed by a slice of Papa Gino’s pizza across the parking lot.
