The biggest question on the internet for Golf! How do I stop my slice??? The first thing to say is that every swing is different….. but there are some common faults that cause a sliced ball flight! Swing path, club face alignment, grip, there are many factors! Let’s understand how the slice is caused first! Firstly…… what is a slice? For a right handed golfer A slice is where the ‘ball starts to the left of the ball Target Line’ and then ‘curves to the right’ and finishes its flight ‘and misses the target to the right’ Here are the top 3 causes of a slice! ⛳️ 1. The players downswing causes the club path to be outside the ball To target line and comes from ‘Out to In’ and would enter the ‘Red Zone’ featured in the video before hitting the ball. If you can keep club path more neutral or from an inside path… it is IMPOSSIBLE to hit a normal sliced flight! ⛳️ 2. The clubface is pointing to the right of where the club path is heading. This imparts side spin on the ball and causes the ball to curve during its flight. The bigger the difference between the path and the face angle at impact…. The more side spin….. and more curvature! ⛳️ 3. It is highly liklely you are starting your down swing with your arms first. Primarily and more frequently this gets the hands too far in front of the player and contributes to the ‘out to in’ club path we want to avoid! The club should not enter the ‘Red Zone’.
