Here’s who’s behind Philo ✨🌱 The pilot ‘Educate to Liberate’ programme comes from the need to see our kids and young people activated and locked into what moves them and how they navigate and speak into what’s happening around them. Connection + creation over consumption ✨
The programme is now full 🙌🏾 We’ll be announcing our Green Room dates in May - open to all.

we spend a lot of time thinking, dreaming and praying about how we use what we have in our hands to join the worldbuilders in creating something more beautiful than the engulfing sea of oppression that feels quotidian. this collective art piece behind us represents more than just the output of hands or the legacy piece of a project. each strand of fabric reminds me of the conversation, care and humanity that was shared among humans who took the time to dream together about what our community could look like. each crafted piece speaks to the way people used the time and space to find ways to support each other. sharing resources, arranging childcare, putting people on to work, speaking life into children and i could go on. i’m hopeful that our critical consciousness continues to grow and we continue to create the spaces that we need 🙏🏾#lewisham #spatialjustice #joymapping #collectiveart

When we get asked why Philo, it takes us back to 2014. Just a couple of dreamers longing for something deeper than surface check ins. Knowing our community needs multiple access points and ways of finding connection again. Finding true meaning of existence.
Doing something different changes the trajectory but requires commitment. Our choices and direction have taken us on a journey that hasn’t been straightforward but is wonderfully intentional. May the zig zags and life interruptions and pauses keep us pondering + pursuing the purpose of the thing that comes back into focus every time.

Final day of our sponsored 50k bike ride fundraiser that we did last Saturday.
Massive thank you to Paul, Bobby & John who came thru and rode - also can’t forget our little man who rode the last 3-4k with us. @tashloves and Dr Rebecca Bramall made sure the support vehicle was never far away ☺️ fortunately there were no issues.
We’ve raised £875 so far which is amazing and we’re very grateful to everyone that donated and supported. We know that in this economic climate it’s not easy, and we’re committed to honouring your investment in creating just futures for our community.

4 days until our 50k fundraising bike ride for @playatphilo . We’ve raised £327 which is 43% of our target. Thanks everyone, and let’s see if we can go all the way.
Today seeing a load of young people wrapped up in waterproof clothing come out despite the rain and build instruments, engage in imaginative play with mulch, wood chips and other materials and basically create natural playscapes was a thing of beauty.
The benefits of outdoor self-directed play are numerous, but to have an intergenerational space where learning is bi-directional and care is part of our practice is special.
Help us make these kinds of spaces normal, regular and accessible in our community 🙏🏾
