I thought I had finished this painting but over time began to feel there was something missing. It seemed to have a kind of unresolved emptiness. One day I came into my studio and saw there was a canvas thread dangling over it from the painting stacked above. It seemed to me to be perfectly placed....so I painted it in.

How long does a painting take? Didn't make the hang in my 2020 @highgategallery show. Reworked several times since and had several false "finishes". Finally complete now, minus the strawberries and cream. Dissatisfaction is a powerful motivating force.
