Honoured to share that our piece from Haiti has been nominated for an Emmy. Haiti truly stole my heart. It’s such a beautiful country, but it was heartbreaking to see it torn apart by ruthless gangs, and to witness the deep suffering so many are enduring as a result. Endless thanks to the team who made this story possible: Senior producer @jasmindyer , DOP @jackwgarland , and our brilliant local producer Jeremy. And to our amazing colleagues in London—thank you for backing us every step of the way. The last slide is a shorter version of our film—you can watch the full piece on YouTube. #EmmyAwards #JournalismMatters #Haiti #NewsTeam #Storytelling #ForeignReporting #Documentary

Haiti - a beautiful country that continues to be ravaged by violence. Gangs now control over 90% of Port au Prince. And the stories people tell us are some of the worst we’ve heard. Cholera and malnutrition are rife in the camps where thousands of people now live after their neighbourhoods were burnt to the ground. Girls as young as 6 victims of gang rape - the attackers often children themselves. Pics from both our trips here - December 2024 and this week. With my PIC @bbcnawal and the brilliant @pj_pendlebury and @jackwgarland 📸

On the road in Lebanon... On April 8th, the country experienced one of its deadliest days in decades - 100 Israeli bombs fell across the entire country in just 10 minutes. We visited three strike locations to piece together what happened that day. 2025 was the deadliest year for journalists since the CPJ started recording that kind of data. Journalism is not a crime, and these stories deserve to be told.

On April 8th at 2:15pm, over 100 bombs fell across Lebanon in just ten minutes. We’ve spent weeks piecing together the events, speaking to families, walking through destroyed homes and verifying strikes nationwide. In Hay El Sellom, Mohammed showed me the spot where his son was killed when the building collapsed on top of him. I’ll never forget how his son had slept in his bed that day only to be buried under three floors while his bedroom remained untouched. In central Beirut, Noha took me back to her gym. She was on the balcony having a cigarette break when multiple strikes hit the building next door. In Sidon, parents showed me the bedroom of their daughters who went to pray and never returned. The scale of destruction is staggering. Parents stand in the bedrooms that their children will never return to, a heartbreaking sight. The Lebanese health ministry reported 361 deaths that day, the vast majority being civilians. The Israeli military claims it targeted Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure. Ten minutes, 100 bombs. Can you even imagine? Got to work with a dream team @jasmindyer @tacchijake @liam_weir @bluehousefilm @hamoontehrani and @sgmotiondesign ❤️ #Lebanon #Beirut #Journalism #BBCNews #investigatioms

A blacked-out car and No phones. We were driven to a building on the outskirts of Beirut’s southern suburbs to meet Wafiq Safa - one of Hezbollah’s most senior political figures. We recorded this interview just as Donald Trump was preparing to announce a ceasefire. In a world exclusive, Safa makes it clear: Hezbollah will not abide by it unless their conditions are met - and they will “never ever” disarm. #Hezbollah #MiddleEast #BreakingNews #Journalism #BBCNawal

Gisèle Pelicot - The Newsnight Interview In 2024, 51 men - including Gisèle Pelicot’s husband - were found guilty of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault. Dozens of other men were never identified and remain at large today. She calls her ordeal a “descent into hell”. Our interview with Mme Pelicot is airing this weekend across all BBC output. Please tune in to hear from the most remarkable of women. Thank you to @jonathan.aspinwall & @lizrawlings for trusting me and our amazing team with such an important project.

Some bts from our trip to Yemen 🇾🇪 Allegations of secret prisons in the south of the country have long been made, but this was the first time we’ve been able to gain access… as the spat between Yemen’s former coalition partners—the UAE and Saudi Arabia—continues to play out. A privilege to see @bbcnawal ’s homeland 🤍 Watch our piece for the 10 o’clock news here: https://youtu.be/_8lYsxTqidE?si=xxkGobYruFQmR7TF

The last time we flew back from Haiti, we connected through Miami. As we landed, ICE officers pulled aside several Haitians and questioned them. Days later, we learned that TPS for hundreds of thousands of Haitians in the US was about to expire, meaning many could soon face deportation.
It was hard to comprehend how anyone could be sent back after the devastation we had just witnessed on the ground. It felt like a story we had to tell.
Grateful to work on it with the brilliant @jasmindyer and @liam_weir #Haiti #HaitiCrisis #BBC #TPS #Immigration #OnTheGround #JournalismMatters #HumanStories
