Two days. One mission.
Last week, @legendsdolive partnered with @nike to host real focus groups across Houston — from @pvamu , where the journey started, to @theschoolofsportsciences , where the next generation of student‑athletes are being built. We even sat down with students at @texassouthern in the heart of 3rd Ward.
We pulled up to @forwardtimes to show the importance of working with local press you can see, trust, and feel.
We brought exclusive silhouettes and got raw, unfiltered feedback from the people who shape the culture.
And we wrapped it all at @trillburgers — because nothing says Houston like ending where the culture eats.
Always grateful to be at the intersection.
Houston… it’s almost time.

Another year around the sun. Another year becoming more of who I’m supposed to be.
2025 gave me everything — the highs, the lessons, the pivots, the pressure, the blessings. A year that stretched me as an inventor, sharpened me as a husband, humbled me as a son, challenged me as a business partner, and deepened me as a friend.
I walked through experiences that forced growth, demanded patience, and reminded me why purpose has to be bigger than comfort. And somehow, through all of it, I kept building ideas, programs, relationships, and rooms that didn’t exist before.
I’m grateful for the people who hold me down, push me forward, and believe in the things I’m creating even when the blueprint isn’t finished.
Here’s to another year of impact, innovation, love, and legacy.
I’m just getting started.🥳✨
2yrs down!
This year tested us in every direction, and you still showed up like a superhero. My peace, my coach, my comedian, my safe place.
Marriage isn’t a trend, it’s a daily choice. A practice. A promise.
And even on the hard days, we kept choosing. We kept growing. We kept loving with intention.
Here’s to more evolution, grace, and a love that refuses to fold. #ItsASmallWorld
Houston, a new All‑Star moment is about to hit the city. The @nbafoundation has partnered with us to launch Literacy Grants for the opening of @officialstaracademy , RWAR’s new Edutainment learning centers built to take on the challenges facing our students, teachers, and families.
Only 100 families will receive this exclusive grant opportunity, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Greetings, I’m JD!
I didn’t just arrive in Houston because the children were struggling. I could feel the weight on the teachers who are giving everything they have with too little support. I could feel the frustration of families who want the best for their kids but keep running into barriers they didn’t create. The pressure on this city’s classrooms was so strong it reached me across galaxies.
My strength grows every time a young person reads, learns, or unlocks a new idea. That energy is powerful, and I am here to protect it. When I found the Edutainers already fighting for students, teachers, and families, I knew this was where my mission had to begin.
Houston is ready for something different. A shift in how we treat knowledge. A movement that turns reading into a source of power and gives every child, every educator, and every family a reason to believe again.
This is only the beginning. If this is where the story starts, imagine what comes next.
Last week, my business partners and I had the opportunity to be invited by @harvard to their Upswell Forum, a @harvardhbs Social Enterprise Initiative. By definition, the forum is designed to educate, support, and inspire leaders to tackle society’s toughest challenges and make a difference in the world. For me, it affirmed the work we’ve been doing through @readingwarapper , and confirmed my vision and purpose from co-creating @legendsdolive back in my dorm room at PV in 2012.
Some things I took away from this experience:
- Access to the RIGHT information is expensive.
- Most of us have been conditioned to think in Lack & Fear.
- Asking the right questions can save you so much time.
- Who you think around is crucial and critical.
- Having a solution that people aren’t ready for is a real thing!
- Scaling your impact, and not just your business is key.
- And finally… A reminder to never go out of my way to make myself small to appease others in the room.
I met some of the most thoughtful leaders during my time in Boston; some from my own city, and some from others. Seeing the origins of The Source Magazine at @thehiphoparchive , sharing perspectives, cultures, and ideas to not just act in the game, but to know I have the power to rewrite all the rules if I just believe.
Then, it’s about transferring that energy to those who welcome it.
Grateful for it all! I’m recharged and ready!
