MAN. today is the release day of “H8 MACHINE”, the very first single from the upcoming Tayls album! this song was the one that really grabbed our ear after seeing them live and ultimately what made us want to bring them in to the studio to work on this album together last summer. and what a summer we had!

i chose to add a bit of The Honey Drippers’ iconic anthem to “30 Minutes of Revolution” because just as the people were fed up with Nixon in 1973, i BEEN fed up with this monster for over a decade. this song is significant not only in its messaging but the drums alone built the foundation for some of the most iconic hip hop/r&b tracks of all time.
the crimes of our current administration are enormous and we must demand justice. please find your representative in congress and reach out to make your voice heard.

okay, at LONG LAST. our tascam TSR-8 tape machine is fully rebuilt and functional! anyone who has been in this studio over the last year or so has heard the saga of sourcing parts from all over the world for this machine. it was missing the oddest pieces, which makes me think it was someone’s parts machine before leaving it on the sidewalk in manhattan for me to find.
so before we take it on it’s maiden voyage this weekend, we took a minute to test it out by listening back to the master tape from Alanna Royale and her 2014 release, ACHILLES.
so if you have ever wanted to record an album to 1/2” tape, all analog, now is your time to book!
thrilled to have had @connorkellyandthetimewarp come in yesterday to record some tunes live in-studio with a video crew in tow.
with talented players, recordings can sometimes seem finished before they actually are. the audio you’re hearing here is just the board mix from the session, not the final mix! we cannot wait to see/hear the finished product. keep an eye out!
had one of our best homies @tcarmandrums in today to get our shuffle on! we used six mics, which is a little more than i normally use. mostly, i wanted to stay true to the genre and capture a good bit of room ambience but also have a little bit of modern close-mic sound in the mix. we used some brand new outboard gear, and some old favorites as well. and the audio you’re hearing is the final mix! enjoy!
also, hire tim if you’re looking for someone who can swing and shuffle like nobody’s business!

this is why i broke my foot last year. it’s also why i’ve broken ribs multiple times, broken my tailbone, gotten multiple concussions, jumped off stages, been in brawls, been punched in the face more times than i can remember, why i’ve taken my guitar off to hit somebody with it - and also why i’ll always keep going back for more.
it’s valentine’s day, and this sweet lil self-love song came out this week. i’m so proud of @alannaroyale for this one. this is actually the first recording of hers since 2012 that i was not involved in writing, recording, or playing on and i think it’s an absolutely brilliant song and a beautiful vocal performance. it was truly a great thing to see her spread her wings and go up to philly to work with @eraserhoodsound . just tryna brag on my forever valentine for a second, you know?
