Am 14. März um 21 Uhr findet im Kulturzentrum Merlin eine der erfolgreichsten und beliebtesten Veranstaltungen der Stuttgarter Comictage statt: Die «Comic battle», wo Profis gegen Neulinge im Zeichnen antreten. Vorher aber gibt es noch einen Apéro, u.a. mit Schweizer Wein vom Generalkonsulat.

My boys love collecting many of the same thing — the more duplicates, the happier they are.
So I figured: “Great! I’ll draw a whole school of Ophtalmosaurus. Perfect for them.”
Turns out… they did not approve.
Apparently even they have a limit. Who knew there was such a thing as too many Ophtalmosaurus? 😂🐟🦕

Here a couple pages from my 2014 Sketchbook publication.
Some sketches for a cd cover I did back then, a spontaneous garden sketch that ended up in some kind of a fantasy story.
Starting to draw without a plan and just seeing what happens on the paper is one of my favorite things to do.
It’s not really about finding ideas, it’s about experiencing whatever comes in the moment and letting it take shape on the page.
That’s how these small, strange creatures appear, the ones hiding under the leaves in the garden.
And of course, a few mountain peaks… I can never resist drawing those.

On the next page, figures, small and large. Little studies of people and movement, drawn between thoughts.
Moments like these remind me why I always carry a sketchbook to stay curious, to observe, and to never stop drawing.
