I thought I was coming to Tobatí to give something, but it turns out Tobatí was pouring into me the whole time, I just didn’t realize it. Climbing trees, laughing over meals, learning new dances that I could barely hit on beat, hanging with kids who had every reason to hold back but didn’t, it all stripped life down to something raw simple and honest. Nobody was worried about your background or who you were back home, just who you were in that moment and the energy you brought with you.
What stayed with me most wasn’t just the beauty of the place, but how naturally people loved and welcomed me. No hesitation, no conditions. All smiles. It made me realize how often we complicate things that were never meant to be complicated. These photos can’t explain it. Neither can these words. They’re just proof that something real happened here. Something that slowed me down, opened me up, and helped me see myself more clearly. A subtle reminder that the best parts of life aren’t planned, they are felt. Tobatí gave me a perspective I didn’t know I needed, and memories I’ll never forget.
