Paper Shredder on Wheels (2017). My mom was getting rid of an old paper shredder. I decided to have a look at it to see if there was anything creative I could do with it before it got passed on. I sat on the front porch toying with different ideas in my head. I finally arrived at the idea of attaching wheels to it, and having it pull itself along by its insatiable appetite.
I built some wooden supports to attach wheels onto the body of the machine, painted them black, did some test runs in the kitchen, and then finally shot a short film of the spectacle. I regret not attaching googly eyes.

I was sketching in a notebook and playing around with silly cow designs. I made a little booklet with five of them. It’s mixed moodia: Some hand drawn and some MacPaint (and printed with a dot matrix printer). I made this becows I’m procrastinating from more important things at the mooment.

I happened upon a Shrinky Dink party taking place in an art gallery/maker space. I made eight. Not pictured is a really tiny toaster one that I gave away. The keychain one was to be left in one of those little free libraries, but one that had keychains instead of books. I’d found it a week or two prior, but now I can’t remember where it’s located.

I recently learned that the game, Surround for the Atari 2600 has a ‘drawing mode’. Surround was a clone of Blockade (think Tron’s Light Cycle game). This is a little picture I made just to test it out. The only colors available to draw with are green and dark teal, although you also get to position the red and yellow player sprites where you want them... there’s actually no way to get rid of them, so I used them for the head and tail lights.
Okay, technically you can get other colors by waiting until the Atari goes into its screensaver mode and randomly alters its color palette. But you won’t be able to edit the image once that happens.

A Video Tape Records Its Own Death
This video art piece features a VCR, with its top removed, recording a video signal from a camera pointed down at the VCR’s innards. During the recording, the video tape is physically cut by some comically large shears. In doing this, the video tape witnesses and records its own demise.
However, in order to play back the recording, the tape had to be spliced back together, thus bringing the tape back to life.

A bouncing sun and a buoyant moon. Computer graphics + VHS tape.
I wanted this to look like it was interactive. Like some type of VR experience perhaps. In order to get the proper movement of the camera (player), I screen recorded myself moving around in the second room of Doom’s E1M1 map, and then used a camera tracker to apply the movement to my 3D environment that I’d built. A silly convoluted method, but it saved me from having to learn new software, for which I often have little patience.

I made this on my Atari 2600 using John Payson’s Seven-Color PAINT Program. The program lets you make 16x16 pixel images using a seven-color (6 + black) palette. Besides a color-cycling function, the program doesn’t have any animation features, so I video-captured a bunch of my drawings and then cut them together in an editing program. The drum samples are from my Atari Music album which was also made on the 2600 (using JamLoopy).
(I’m aware that cat knees don’t actually work this way)
