NEW LAMINATE COUNTERTOPS
Our local college bar was in need of some new laminate countertops. After a through cleaning, both the existing countertop and new laminate recieved a coat of contact cement. The extreme bond the contact cement makes, means that once you start stickin’, there’s no going back. A router with a 45degree chamfer bit was used to meet the existing countertop. This also meant the all the trim would need to be refinished. Now moving onto to all the tables!
BIKE SHED UPDATE
With school right around the corner, finally had to say goodbye to the bike.
This project began in late May and was only completed on weekends. We are still waiting on the window and STC rated doors for installation.
Really happy with how it turned out! Excited to do more large projects like this one.
From wall to bike shed.
Client wanted a bike shed on the exterior of the building. That could house a work bench, storage and bikes.
A rooftop seating area will also be part of project and will be accessible from the atop the adjacent shipping container.
Extra precautions were taken to design a water proofing system that could support the low sloped roof. More to come.
We always need MORE tool storage!!
These are a couple floating shelves with an attached shelving unit. 2x4s were used to frame out the shelves and then 1/2” CDX was used to cover each shelf. Very basic but highly functional.
First project back home!
This was a floating DJ stand, that mounted up three large speakers and a board for the client.
A simple 2x4 frame was used and covered with 1/2” CDX. It provided a very raw and cost effective approach to the shelving. The customer may choose to paint the shelving later on.
@james_beatty99 was the right hand man.
Excited for more projects at home!
Shower Curb Tile
12x24 LFT was cut to size and fit into place with the Brushed Bronze Bullnose Aluminum Trim. Clamps were very lightly applied to add pressure and ensure a flush surface.
Shower Niche Tile Install
Extensive prep and planning is necessary when installing your shower niche. Ensure proper lippage and over lay pattern when setting the sheet tile to align with the wall tile. An aluminum L trim was used to disguise the tile edge.
It is also crucial to ensure that the tile is sloped towards the shower pan to reduce any possible pooling.
These are some of my favorite photos from my GLY Internship this past summer. I was lucky enough to be able to work from the jobsite office for a portion of my internship and experience a highly productive, yet pandemic-controlled jobsite, with the upmost regard for safety.
Project: SAAS Vanderbilt
Location: Capitol Hill, Seattle, WA
Job Description: 110-year old three-story renovation. Two levels occupied space, one level parking. Classrooms, learning spaces, and hallways will fill the occupied levels and connect to the previously renovated SAAS CUB.
Closet Expansion
This was for a homeowner in Portland who wanted to open their closet. The second photo shows the former lath and plaster archway, that once was.
To my knowledge this existing wall was not load bearing, however that didn’t stop me from installing a hefty beam to ensure the structure was safe and sound. After securely anchoring some jack studs, we began to demo the messy lath and plaster wall. Made me appreciate drywall a little more.
The beam consisted of (2) 2x10 pine studs laminated together with nails and wood glue. This was then set onto two jack studs, on either side, securely fastened to the existing king stud.
The entire build out was then wrapped in 5/8” drywall and mudded.
This project happened over a single weekend, which lead to an extremely tight schedule and some long days and nights. Really happy with how it turned out.
