As a first-gen, former foster youth & college graduate, self mastery has been my most profound achievement, a true journey of resilience, growth & self discovery!!

4 days ago I had the honor of being the keynote speaker at “Salud Integral de La Mujer” in front of over 250 mujeres, mostly señoras, many of whom have lived through deep hardships, like overcoming cancer & so much more.
After years of public speaking, this was truly different. Not only because mi presentación fue totalmente en español pero porque realmente sentí los corazones de cada una de ellas abrirse lentamente.
It didn’t feel like I was just speaking on stage, it felt like I was speaking to my abuelita, mi mamá, mi tía & mi niña interior…..all at once. Es algo que de verdad no se puede explicar con palabras. We cried. We laughed. We danced. We remembered!

La Vendedora de Alcatraces painting has hung above my kitchen table for years. I look at her everyday, while eating, crying, doubting myself & trying to make sense of who I’m becoming & what I’m even doing with my life.
Everyone says “follow your dreams” but who actually gets the privilege to do so? We all carry dreams deep within us, but how many of us are brave enough to pursue them? It’s easier said than done.
But I remember, that these dreams are sacred. They are an extension of the resilience of the women who came before me, women who maybe never got the chance to fully live theirs…
I carry these dreams like flowers, with lots of delicacy & honor. Because they are not just mine. They are inherited, algo que no se puede explicar. Our role is to honor our dreams, protect them, nurture them & eventually share them with the world.
We all carry our inner niña wanting to be seen, valued & understood. Your dreams do not expire but eventually the obstacle becomes the fear, doubt & limitations we place on ourselves.
Not everyone will understand your dreams, even those closest to you but that’s just part of the journey. These dreams have been running through our veins for centuries. Like the vendedora, we hold them gently, even when they are heavy. 🇲🇽✨🧬🌵🫀

Fun Fact: Bimini is famous for it’s conch (KONK) our tour guide made sure we pronounced it correctly lol locals have been diving for it for generations. We got to see how they opened them up & even tried a piece, well my partner tired it lol 🐚✨🌺🇧🇸
Bimini is known as the “Gateway to the Bahamas” & is made up of 2 main islands North & South Bimini. The water here is some of the clearest in the world (I’ve never seen water this blue).

Believe it or not lol I’m actually a little shy & networking has never been my thing so being surrounded by so many creators pushed me outside of my comfort zone in the best way. I also never know what to say when someone asks “what do you do?” or the “what is your niche?” 🧍🏽♀️
There are moments I still feel out of place in this industry but last night, they had a live salsa band & something clicked. I was like wait a minute…I belong here too lol the negative thoughts really just live in our heads!

I grew up feeling like this was what I was meant to do but deep in my soul, I always questioned it.
I always saw women sacrifice more. “La mujer siempre es la que se chi*ga más” (this was the reality I witnessed).
And no, it wasn’t modern day feminism/rebellion taking over my mind. It was a deeper knowing that something needed to shift. Something wasn’t working.
So I had to ask myself….
What does marriage actually mean to me?
What does a healthy partnership look like?
I didn’t have a solid example. So I had to search. I had to do the work.
Partnership is beautiful but it also requires deep internal work. It mirrors your wounds, especially abandonment wounds that live quietly in the heart & sometimes that’s sooo hard to face.
Marriage to me is, honoring all stages. Learning to love yourself unconditionally. Trusting that you will be okay, even if something goes wrong.
I had to learn to put my guard down but only with someone I felt truly safe with.
So I observed. I reflected & then I observed some more!! lol
Not because he wasn’t enough but because this was my process.
This was my inner child protecting me & I had to honor that!
I learned that it’s okay to take your time. It’s okay to sit with yourself. To feel safe in your body before saying YES to a life changing decision.
Real love isn’t rushed. It asks for patience, presence & trust in your own process! ¡Que viva el amor!

Marriage was never a fairytale to me. I saw the reality of it early on, I didn’t grow up dreaming about my wedding & to be honest, marriage scared me. I understood how permanent it was. Desde niña I saw how choosing the wrong partner could change the trajectory of your entire life & that awareness stayed with me.
All the work I’ve done led me here, learning to trust, to let love in & to embody true self love. This next step feel’s earned. I knew the commitment long before the ring but I wanted to honor the weight of this decision.
We’ve been engaged for almost 6 months now & this moment means more to me than words can explain. I get to rewrite the story of my lineage. Our love story isn’t a fairytale. It’s breaking cycles, learning how to love in a way that feels safe & choosing each other over & over again.
Thank you to my fiancé for the ways you’ve challenged me, supported me & helped me grow. In your grandfather’s mariachi suit, we honored the generations that shaped us. ¡Te amo con todo mi ser!
