— Rasmus Steffensen rapporterer It has become a cherished December tradition that Koncertkirken opens its doors to curious explorations of the nature of the organ when the Organ Sound Art Festival moves in. This year the festival could celebrate its 10th anniversary, and the fascination with the organ’s many paradoxes remains intact. #sound #art #artist #artists #artistsoninstagram #organ #musica #music #musician #composer #listen #concert #copenhagen #traditional #culture #kultur

Photos have landed from Friday evening at Organ Sound Art Festival 2025. An intense night exploring the organ’s physical and spatial possibilities. Ferdinand Schwarz presented the intense performance installation 'Do You Hear What I Hear?', followed by a processed organ samples from Theodor Kentros. The evening concluded with the majestic 'Bellows' by Ragnhild May & Stefan Maier — a powerful concert installation with the four magnificent musicians @bertel_m – trombone, @ferdischwarz – trumpet, @wolencki – trombone, and @perfect_deleted_futures (Caleb Salgado) – double bass. Beautiful evening. Thank you to everyone who came out. Photo credit: Franco Adams (/) #OrganSoundArtFestival #OSAF2025 #NewMusic #SoundArt #OrganMusic

CANCELLATION 100.miia is unable to perform because of illness ;-( We send her our best wishes. Therefore tonights program opens with Oskar Tomala (PL), stepping in at short notice due to the unfortunate cancellation of 100.miia. Tomala presents a preview of electroacoustic works from his upcoming album Window Forms, exploring an experimental clash between composed electronic material and the physical nature of the organ. The evening continues with Calum Builder’s immersive work Fragility of Relics, performed with Gintė Preisaitė, Ferdinand Schwarz, and Michał Biel, investigating fragile intersections between sound, perception, and materiality. The night concludes with Maria W Horn & Mats Erlandsson and their site-specific project The Spectral Organ, reshaping the organ’s vocabulary through spectral harmony, four-handed performance, and live electronics. Doors open at 19:30. Tickets still available: https://billetto.dk/e/organ-sound-art-festival-2025-billetter-1691306? #OrganSoundArtFestival #OSAF #ExperimentalMusic #ContemporaryMusic #PipeOrgan #Electroacoustic #SoundArt #NewMusic

Organ Sound Art Festival continues tonight as we move into the second evening of our 10-year anniversary celebrations. Join us at KoncertKirken — doors open at 19:30. Tonight’s program • 20:00 — Ferdinand Schwarz • 21:00 — Theodor Kentros (SE) • 22:00 — Ragnhild May (DK) & Stefan Maier (CA) DJ: Oskar Tomala. Opening the evening, German, Oslo-based composer-performer Ferdinand Schwarz presents 𝘿𝙤 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙧? — a performance for a self-built instrument of air-pressure machines and melodicas, transforming the space through psychoacoustic phenomena. Next, Swedish composer Theodor Kentros performs live-processed organ samples drawn from his works for organ and loudspeakers (2019–2025). Closing the evening, composers and sound artists Ragnhild May and Stefan Maier present a specially adapted version of their large-scale concert installation Bellows, created for Organ Sound Art Festival 2025 and exploring KoncertKirken’s architecture. This version shapes the space through the sculptural force of May’s instruments, Maier’s live electronics, the organ, and an ensemble featuring @bertel_m (DK) — trombone @ferdischwarz (DE) — trumpet @wolencki (US) — trombone @perfect_deleted_futures (Caleb Salgado, US) — double bass 🎟️ Tickets are still available — but for Friday night, the door is only slightly ajar: https://billetto.dk/e/organ-sound-art-festival-2025-billetter-1691306 #OrganSoundArtFestival #OSAF2025 #SoundArt #NewMusic #ContemporaryMusic #OrganMusic #ExperimentalMusic #CopenhagenEvents #KoncertKirken

This evening marks the beginning of four days of the Organ Sound Art Festival 2025, celebrating our 10-year anniversary! We’re looking forward to seeing you later in KoncertKirken — doors open at 19:30. Tonight, we are immensely proud to present a new commissioned work by the composers’ collective Aar & Dag, led by @anders_lauge_meldgaard and Michael Mørkholt. Their piece Multiple Pipes for Major Players is written for mouth-blown wooden and 3D-printed organ pipes, performed by a constellation of Copenhagen’s finest musicians: @carolyngoodwinmusic @sarah._.buchner @the_bluelake @huarachimarka @lm_madsen @sebastiansmacats @loneaagotmeinich @malinamidera @laust.moltesen and @jekabssr . We’re also delighted to welcome Slovenian pianist and composer Kaja Draksler, who will present a series of solo works for organ and vocoder, and Swedish composer and shō player Mattias Hållsten, sharing parts of a new work for shō and electronics. Tickets are still available — but for opening night, the door is now only slightly ajar! https://billetto.dk/e/organ-sound-art-festival-2025-billetter-1691306 #OrganSoundArtFestival #OSAF2025 #ContemporaryMusic #SoundArt #NewMusic #OrganMusic #ExperimentalMusic #CopenhagenEvents #KoncertKirken #AarOgDag

Closing our Saturday night on December 13th: Organ Sound Art Festival 2025 are honoured to welcome Maria W Horn & Mats Erlandsson with 'The Spectral Organ' — their ongoing, site-specific research project exploring the ritual frameworks, sonic symbols, and technological histories of Western sacred music. In this project, the duo reshapes the organ’s traditional vocabulary through non-normative harmonies, extended intervallic worlds, four-handed organ performance, and live electronic processing. Long-time collaborators, Horn & Erlandsson merge synthesized, acoustic, and digital materials into a singular expressive language, weaving field recordings, spectral resonance, and charged histories into deeply immersive performances. Thrilled that this is happening in KoncertKirken! #OrganSoundArtFestival #OSAF2025 #TheSpectralOrgan #MariaWHorn #MatsErlandsson #XKatedral #SoundArt #NewMusic #OrganMusic #ContemporaryMusic

Happening on Saturday 13th!! One of our major new commissions for Organ Sound Art Festival 2025 comes from Tunisian–Danish artist and composer 100.miia (Mia Ghabarou). 'Valencia 2.0' is a site-specific audiovisual installation that transforms a choir of repurposed smartphones into a kinetic, polyphonic orchestra — a deconstructed, modern organ breathing inside the church space. Each phone becomes an instrument and performer, weaving melodies, drifting in and out of harmony, and revealing the symbolic weight these devices carry in our personal, political, and diasporic lives. Paired with piano and a live organ performance by Gintė Preisaitė of Ghabarou’s composition, the work forms a living ensemble that moves between intimacy, humor, protest, and ritual. Drawing on Baroque structures, Tunisian musical traditions, and the chaotic elegance of collective systems, 'Valencia 2.0' invites listeners into a charged, ever-shifting ecosystem of sound, technology, and presence. The commission is kindly supported by @statenskunstfond . #OrganSoundArtFestival #OSAF2025 #100miia #MiaGhabarou #SoundArt #NewMusic #InstallationArt #ContemporaryMusic #OrganMusic
