Erm, not sure why a label has to exist for #WorldArtDay, but anyway, a few stops Not On the Tour Itinerary for Eurotrip 2024:
1. Blauw Jan, Hans van Houwelingen, Leidseplein
2. Rikrit Tiravanija, DO NOT EVER WORK (Chair Edition), for sale at a pop-up at Le Bon Marché
3. @gasparddelanoe at @59rivoli
4. Plight, Joseph Beuys, @centrepompidou
5. Untitled_Sexy Robot type II floating, @hajimesorayamaofficial at @mocomuseum
Because of a reunion that happened last week. And because of a random picture received this morning from @dadovich . (salamat ulet)
24 years ago, when music was life. Urgh. 😬
23 Years, 2 careers and about 40 pounds ago, I was privileged to have been invited to take the stage with these legends as the keyboard player for a one-night-only unprecedented live show.
Thank you @bastiartadi73 and @backspacerrecords for preserving this truly unforgettable night.
What's next? a/n (AI-restored) remaster of the video (only available on VCD resolution?)

Trivia:
1. The "Latin" lyric intro sung by the UP Singing Ambassadors to open the show ("Center of the Sun") was, to my knowledge, figured out by ear by a production assistant and is actually gibberish.
2. (As in any live concert), yes - there were covers played on the night - which obviously did not make the album due to rights ownership. All I remember is Crosby, Stills and Nash's "Southern Cross."
3. 2000: It was the "dawning of the age" of integrated marketing communications - but the excitement of the event concept meant that all parties involved weren't exactly on the same page in terms of promotions. The Music Museum (venue) publicized it as "Wolfgang Unplugged", Livewire Productions (producers) marketed it as "Wolfgang Silenced" in reference to the release of the "Serve in Silence" album in 1999, and the band immortalized it as "Acoustica" on the album release (predating the Scorpions' release of an album of the same name in 2001).
Preparing for Auction, Part 17 (of 31):
Juan Luna y Novicio
Estudio de Hombre (1881/82)
Charcoal on Paper, 29x39cm
From his pension through the Ayuntamiento de Manila.
Acquired in Madrid.
Preparing for Auction, Part 1:
The Art of an Assassin (story below)
Benjamin Mendoza y Amor Flores,
The Moon and the Cat
Pencil and Acrylic on Canvas
---------------
Benjamin Mendoza y Amor Flores was a Bolivian surrealist who unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate Pope Paul VI during the latter's visit to Manila in 1970. Mendoza stabbed the pope in the neck with a kris, but the pontiff escaped unharmed.
The Art was acquired precisely because of the artist's infamy.
It's been a good 16 years since I could truthfully call myself a musician, so you can imagine the joy to receive and play this today.
Thank you:
- To the 4 Brainiacs, for trusting that a piano riff could rock "Concept Human", the album's first track,
- To @bastiartadi73 and @backspacerrecords for the brilliant idea to immortalize this jam on vinyl,
- To everyone whose talents made the record what it was, especially Brian - for the memories.
Cheers. 🤟
