The City Gates have today released their new album titled ‘Chimera’ via Icy Cold Records and Velouria Recordz. On ‘Chimera’, The City Gates sound like they have perfected the art of staring into the void while making it feel strangely beautiful. The Montreal group has always understood how to weaponize atmosphere, but this record pushes their sound into something larger and more consuming. Every track feels drenched in neon rain and cigarette smoke, balancing icy post punk pulse with towering shoegaze textures that seem to stretch endlessly into the night. A lot of bands aim for cinematic scope and end up sounding like they bought one extra reverb pedal. The City Gates actually earn it.
‘Chimera’ moves with the confidence of a band that knows exactly what kind of world they want to build. The basslines carry that classic darkwave hypnosis while the guitars smear across the songs like headlights cutting through fog. What makes the album hit harder is how alive it feels underneath all the haze. These songs breathe. The live drums have weight and momentum, giving the record a physical pulse that keeps the dreamlike atmosphere from drifting away entirely. The production never feels sterile or over polished. Instead, it sounds human, restless, and beautifully worn around the edges.

UltraBomb have today released their new album titled ‘The Bridges That We Burn’ via DC-Jam Records / Virgin Music Group. UltraBomb are not here to politely remind you of their résumés. They kick the door in, plug straight into the amp, and let decades of punk and alternative history do the talking at full volume. ‘The Bridges That We Burn’ feels like the kind of record that only happens when musicians with nothing left to prove decide to prove something anyway. It is confident without being bloated, sharp without trying too hard, and just self aware enough to smirk at the state of things while still caring deeply about them.
The band’s lineage is impossible to ignore, but thankfully it never turns into a nostalgia trap. Greg Norton’s legacy with Hüsker Dü looms large in the best way, his basslines still pulsing with that unmistakable mix of urgency and melody. Derek O’Brien brings the rhythmic backbone you would expect from someone who has powered bands like Social Distortion, Agent Orange, and Adolescents, playing like he has something personal to settle with every snare hit. Ryan Smith, pulling from his years in Soul Asylum, ties it all together with vocals and guitar work that balance grit and clarity, never letting things drift into self indulgence. This is a supergroup that actually sounds like a band.

Keith Carne, the beat and boom behind all that are We Are Scientists, recently stepped out on his own with his new album titled ‘Magenta Light’, out now.
Keith Carne has spent years shaping sound from behind the drum kit, but his latest chapter brings him into sharper focus as a bandleader and composer. His debut solo album ‘Magenta Light’, out as of April 20th, 2026, feels like a natural expansion of a career built on versatility and curiosity. The record leans into contrast, balancing dense, almost chaotic bursts of rhythm with moments of calm that feel wide open and reflective. That duality pulls from spiritual jazz traditions while also embracing the immediacy of modern electronic music, giving the album a sense of motion that never quite settles in one place.
For many listeners, Carne is best known as the longtime drummer for indie pop mainstays We Are Scientists, a role he has held for over a decade. That tenure speaks to both consistency and adaptability, anchoring a band known for sharp songwriting and energetic performances. Away from that spotlight, he has quietly built a reputation as a collaborator across a wide musical spectrum. His work with artists like Sean McVerry, Gem County, Keith And Bestamo, Silver Slugger, and Ashton York reveals a musician comfortable shifting between styles, whether that means supporting a melodic pop structure or exploring more abstract, jazz influenced textures.
In this interview, we talk with Keith about his storied career in music and how he has taken those stories and molded them into the sound and tone of ‘Magenta Light’, as well as his upcoming album release show at Union Pool in Brooklyn, NY, this Saturday (May 2nd).

James Kennedy, frontman for James Kennedy & the Underdogs, have graced Jammerzine with an exclusive interview via Zoom. Today is also the day their new single and video titled ‘Us and Them’ drops (video below), from their upcoming album ‘Rebel’, dropping soon on Combat Records.. ‘Us and Them’ is a blistering punk rock punch that barely gives you a second to breathe—thankfully, it doesn’t need to. Clocking in at just 2:45, it’s the kind of song that grabs you by the collar and demands your attention, no questions asked. With a sound that channels the swagger of the Wildhearts, the intensity of Foo Fighters, and a dash of My Chemical Romance’s youthful fun, Us and Them wastes no time establishing that the Underdogs aren’t here to play nice. It’s a full-throttle attack, a perfect way to kick off their musical crusade.
From the opening chords, it’s clear that the Underdogs have distilled the raw, frenetic energy of their live shows into this track. There’s something about Us and Them that feels like it could shatter the walls of whatever venue it’s played in. Maybe it’s the thumping rhythm section, maybe it’s James Kennedy’s defiant sneer in the vocals, or maybe it’s just the sheer unbridled intensity of the whole thing. Whatever it is, this is a track that doesn’t just want you to listen, it wants you to feel something—whether that’s joy, anger, or just a strong urge to punch the air.
The lyrics, inspired by the book ‘Vultures’ Picnic’ by Greg Palast, reveal a little more depth to the song’s straightforward attitude. The idea of “Us vs. Them” is nothing new, but Kennedy injects it with a sense of urgency that makes the cliché feel fresh again. It’s a battle cry, a defiant middle finger to anyone who dares to put you in a box or tell you how to live your life. If the Underdogs’ mission is to disrupt and provoke, then Us and Them is their opening salvo, and it hits hard....

Stunt Drummer have today premiered their new video titled ‘Pool’, from their upcoming album ‘Warm Up, Tiger’, dropping this Friday via Cavity Search Records.
Somewhere between a basement show and a half chlorinated daydream, Stunt Drummer have figured out how to bottle that specific kind of restless energy that makes you want to text someone you should not. ‘Pool’ lands with a loose confidence that feels almost accidental, like the band just stumbled into a groove and decided not to mess it up by overthinking. It is scrappy in the right ways and polished in the places that actually matter.
The guitars shimmer without getting precious about it, circling around a melody that sticks faster than you would expect from something this casually delivered. There is a sunburned haze to the whole thing, but it never drifts into laziness. Instead, it feels intentional, like every jangly note and offhand vocal line is part of a bigger shrug that somehow translates into charm.
Vocally, the track leans into that detached but secretly invested tone that indie bands chase and rarely nail. The delivery rides the line between bored and sincere, which ends up making the emotional undercurrent hit harder than a more theatrical approach ever could. You get the sense that something real is being said, even if it is buried under a layer of cool indifference.

The Dandy Warhols have today released their new album titled ‘Pin Ups’ as well as their new video for the cover of The Cramps’ ‘Goo Goo Muck’, both dropping today via their own label Beat the World Records and Little Cloud Records.
How can you tell the difference between a cover album and an album of covers? One has to steal while the other has the feel. Most of them have the heart while lacking the soul, and ‘Pin Ups’ spends most of its runtime feeling the soul and adding that explicit originality that The Dany Warhols have long ago crafted. There’s always a risk with covers albums that they’ll feel like contractual obligations or tossed-off fan service, but ‘Pin Ups’ avoids that trap almost immediately. The Dandy Warhols don’t just revisit their influences—they fully absorb and reframe them, turning this collection into something that feels cohesive rather than cobbled together. It plays less like a random assortment of songs and more like a deliberately hazy journey through the band’s musical DNA.

Crouch has today dropped their new album titled ‘Breaking The Catatonic State’ via Heimlich Manoeuvres. We also have an exclusive interview with Crouch’s own Levy Seynaeve (video above).
‘Breaking The Catatonic State’ is the kind of album that politely declines to hold your hand and then shoves you down a flight of creatively jagged stairs—in the best way possible. From the first moments, Crouch make it clear they’ve outgrown anything resembling comfort zones. If you came here expecting predictable sludge riffs and a cozy head-nod, you’re going to be disappointed. If you came here to feel slightly disoriented and very alive, congratulations, you’ve picked the right record.
The pedigree of the band members is obvious, but not in the tiresome “spot the influence” way. Instead, the experience coalesces into something that feels deliberate and sharpened. The drumming is restless without being indulgent, the bass refuses to just sit in the background like a well-behaved houseplant, and the guitars twist and pivot in ways that feel almost confrontational. It’s tight, but never sterile, like a machine that learned how to sneer.
What really sets this album apart is its gleeful rejection of rhythmic safety nets. The band’s decision to ditch the familiar 4/4 pulse isn’t just a gimmick, it’s the backbone of the record’s identity. Songs lurch, snap, and reassemble themselves in ways that keep you just off-balance enough to stay engaged. It’s the musical equivalent of someone rearranging the furniture while you’re still in the room, and somehow convincing you it’s an improvement.

Synne Sanden has officially premiered her new live video titled ‘Flesh’, dropping tomorrow via Nordic Records. The live music video for ‘Flesh’ captures a rare blend of emotional intimacy and artistic control that immediately draws the viewer in. From the opening moments, the atmosphere feels raw and honest, allowing the performance itself to become the central focus. Rather than relying on heavy visual effects or elaborate staging, the video embraces a minimalist approach that highlights the depth of the music and the sincerity of the performance.
Synne Sanden delivers the song with remarkable presence and emotional clarity. Her voice carries both strength and vulnerability, creating a performance that feels deeply personal yet universally relatable. Each phrase feels intentional, and the subtle shifts in tone give the song a sense of movement that keeps the listener fully engaged. It is the kind of performance that feels less like a presentation and more like an authentic moment shared with the audience.
Visually, the live setting complements the song beautifully. The lighting and camera work create a calm and focused environment that allows the emotion of the music to shine through. Small details such as facial expressions and quiet pauses add layers of meaning that might be lost in a more heavily produced video. The simplicity of the presentation ultimately becomes one of its greatest strengths.

Enduser has today released his new album, his first in a decade, titled ‘Unquiet’, via Decay Recordings. There’s a particular kind of silence that only exists after movement — not calm, not peace, but the residue of motion still vibrating in the air. ‘Unquiet’ lives in that space. Enduser doesn’t arrive here with spectacle or nostalgia; instead, the album unfolds like a conversation that’s been waiting years to finish its sentence.
This is not a record that demands attention. It earns it.

A Modern Armada have officially premiered their new video for the track titled ‘Hero?’ from their latest album ‘Retaliation is Newtonian’. With ‘Hero?’, A Modern Armada taps into a quietly powerful idea that feels almost radical in its restraint: heroism not as spectacle, but as character. The song doesn’t posture or preach. Instead, it unfolds like a late-night conversation overheard at the end of the bar, where the big questions surface not with grand gestures, but with lived-in honesty.
