2026 PMBAR!….aka People Making Bad Assessments Repeatedly!….or at least that’s what we were trying to avoid doing. But it’s pretty tough when there’s no set course, there are countless options to get from A to B, and just bc it’s “short” on the map doesn’t mean it’s the fastest. Having done a handful of PMBAR events I can tell you no two are a like and that’s one thing that always keeps it fun and exciting! So you’re the fastest team; may not win. So you’re the most knowledgeable team; may not win. Determined and logical; you got a good shot! But it definitely takes everything coming together…..or “coming together” better than everyone one else….and a lil luck never hurts.
….I probably wouldn’t rely on my awesome map for navigation but as my memory serves me it’s pretty accurate…..except where Horse Cove crosses Squirrel; had to do a lil jig there. Our route went something like like this:

It’s my California anniversary! 🎉
Fifteen years ago: After 56 days of riding my bicycle 3,048 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, I finally reached the Pacific coastline, my new home. I was sunburned to a crisp, and desperate for a good night’s sleep in an actual bed. This was my first bike tour (and still my longest) and kicked off a new love of life on the road.
