Cyborg series 1- 18
I live in a warehouse in north london on an industrial estate. During lockdown it was so peaceful and quiet, the air was so clean and crisp it felt like i was back in the country side. You couldn’t hear the delivery trucks, no planes overhead, just bird song. It felt like nature was claiming back a little of the city.
These little trees on the edge of the estate fighting against human intervention seamed to sum it all up for me.
I spotted these trees a while back but Covid and lockdown gave them a reason and a narrative.

An ongoing project depicting the views from former defensive positions along the south east coast of England and the small strip of water that separates us both physically and possibily mentally from the rest of Europe.
’20 Mile’
2016-current.
Its been a long running idea and turned into a rather long running project. The idea appeared around the time the European referendum was announced.
The depicted view points range in history from Normans Bay where the Norman invaders landed in 1066, through the times of Henry the 8th and the cinque ports, Napoleonic towers and defences all the way to WW2 pillboxes, gun emplacements and radar stations.
Most of the defences were never tested, the enemy never came.
Many are now ruins or have washed away, many are now just marks on an old arial photograph.
I walked most of the route from Sandwich Bay to Seaford over the years. You shoot, think and slowly you piece it together, re-shooting, editing and re-editing until you feel it’s done.
I feel its done now.
