For all artists and photographers who have been bullied simply for standing up for their rights — I see you. Update: Since posting this I have received a flood of messages from other photographers, videographers, musicians, venue and merch workers, etc. that have allegedly been underpaid, threatened, or bullied out of their rights by this band and/or the bands management. I am glad I can be a voice for everyone! I will continue to post anyone’s stories if they are comfortable sharing. Please contact me if you need any help! 💘 For nearly six months, I’ve dealt with daily hate mail, violent threats, and press spins during the lawsuit filed against me by Amy Taylor of Amyl and the Sniffers. I am simply defending my work and speaking openly about artists’ rights while fighting this lawsuit on my own, without a lawyer and without a fancy press team. It has not been easy to have this level of negativity infiltrate my life, but I will not be silenced and I will not back down. I also refuse to stoop to this level and have not and will never use hateful or profane language in response. I am incredibly grateful for the support so many people have shown me throughout this process. It has meant more than you know. What many people don’t see is that intimidation from public figures, management teams, lawyers, PR machines, and online mobs often happens behind closed doors. Most independent photographers do not have the financial resources, legal support, or platform to stand up for themselves publicly when this happens. That culture of intimidation needs to be brought to light — and it needs to stop. It ain’t over yet, but here is an update on the fight for my rights! 💪 Los Angeles, CA — May 4, 2026 — The Court indicated on the record that it will grant photographer Jamie Nelson’s motion for judgment on the pleadings, finding that the primary claim brought by Amy Taylor (frontwoman of Amyl and the Sniffers) cannot proceed as currently pleaded and allowing leave to amend—marking a significant win for Nelson at the pleading stage and a meaningful shift in the posture of the case. The Court’s findings place Taylor’s Lanham Act claim at the center of the dispute in serious jeopardy, after finding it legally deficient under the applicable legal standard. In doing so, the Court indicated that the images at issue are expressive works. While Taylor was granted leave to amend, the Court expressed doubt that the deficiencies could be cured. The Court set a June 1, 2026 deadline for the filing of any amended complaint by Taylor and scheduled a further status conference for June 4, 2026. Nelson said: “The Court’s decision reinforces a fundamental principle: creators retain rights in the work they create. So I got sued—by a “punk.” Amy Taylor is the frontwoman of punk band Amyl and the Sniffers whose likeness was described as “worth in the millions” by her lawyer in a recent Los Angeles federal court hearing. That framing sits in tension with the band’s longstanding punk identity—raising a broader question: what happens when an artist rooted in an anti-commercial ethos is positioned as a high-value brand asset? The backstory: I am an LA photographer. I created the images. I funded them. I own them. Then I did something controversial. I tried to make money from my own work—you know—what photographers occasionally do (wild concept). 🙄 Amy Taylor sued me to gain control of my images but no one is going to take my copyright—or control my images—not by bullying me in the press, and not through a federal lawsuit. I’m acting as my own attorney fighting not just for myself—but for photographers without a voice in an all-too-pervasive situation that often happens behind closed doors. Being your own attorney is as DIY and punk rock as it gets 🤘💪 Update: I rejected Amy Taylor’s settlement offer on April 20. The court is expected to issue a final ruling shortly and has indicated it will dismiss Taylor’s key claims, narrowing her claims against me.
