Happy anniversary, Mom and Dad. Happy Chapter 33 to me.
Rest in peace to my Aunt Darlene Mayberry. I attended her funeral today, and an unnecessary argument took place—which only confirmed everything.
Let’s be clear: we would have never become estranged if people had minded their business. What happened between me and my mom was ours. Others chose to involve themselves, create narratives, and cause division. That’s where this started.
Since then, it’s been nothing but targeting, mistreatment, and disrespect. I’m not continuing that.
My mom called me her son—publicly, on social media, and out in the open. Everyone knows that. And even the “step-son” label is inaccurate, disrespectful, and unnecessary—it has nothing to do with this, but it’s been a background issue.
My mom is gone. My dad is gone. My aunt is gone. At this point, my relationship with the Mayberry family is gone as well.
No more back and forth. No more explanations. I’m closing this out.
Here’s to Chapter 33. Here’s to peace. Here’s to moving on.
