Now that the reel is off to the lab, it’s back to the wonderful world of virtual production, as a DOP no less! It was super fun to work on an LED volume with one of the latest and greatest camera rigs. You may think analogue and digital are unrelated, but the lessons I learnt last week proved to be super valuable here.
Alongside the chacanery in the VP studio on campus, I also attended the Media Production and Technology show, where much networking took place.

Now this was something! I’ve waited over a year to do this, and it finally happened! At long last, I shot something on a BOLEX H16, presumably from the late 50s, with a reel of 16mm that’s been sat dormant in my fridge for goodness knows how long. I must admit, working analogue tries your paitience, and you really have to rehearse and refine your shots, especially if you have less than 100ft of film to work with. To me, respecting the art is not only watching historic films, but also making new stuff the old fashioned way! Now, on to the lab, then the moviola!

Had the honour of doing a pre-vis for the #skyframeacademy this morning with the @unicreativearts and @ali._.films . I must admit, it was rather peculiar to spend only a couple of hours in the capital, before having to return to campus to do a presentation. Some great conversations were had, and brilliant work shown. Super excited for what comes next!

What a busy couple of weeks! A fortnight ago I was busy volunteering at the #farnhamliteraryfestival2026, and I had the pleasure of attending a lecture from none other than @ernyberny . Few days later, I find myself at the helm of a vision mixing desk for @fulltransparency2026 , and to top it all off, I had two weekend’s worth of duties at @thewatercressline with Flying Scotsman! Fate of the artist, eh?
