This record is the most work I think I have ever worked on any one project, and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I feel like we have been working on this record together since high school. We didn’t start tracking until the beginning of 2021, but growing up together with a shared love of music helped shape the people we are today and I feel like you can hear it in this album.
Choir Vandals have been putting out great music for years, always operating at a higher level of quality than “your friend’s local band” since the very beginning, but it has been so gratifying to watch their songwriting grow and evolve and their arrangement skills get more and more ambitious to match. I really can’t say enough about how fun this album was to make.
Thank you to all of the amazing guest musicians on this album. Thank you to @mattstuttler / @sinkholestl for letting us use your cozy space. Thank you to @standardrecording for loaning me fancy not-for-live-sound mics. Thank you to @tdmfh for your endless patience and keeping me sane with helpful feedback while I mixed this thing in our kitchen while we were home the whole year. Worked my last shift here tonight. Closing out this chapter of great personal growth and accomplishments, the greatest of which was convincing @tdmfh to fall in love with me. Tomorrow is my first day as a full time touring sound engineer, which is absolutely terrifying. Be sure to tip well when I’m serving you coffee in six months!
