Earth stood hard as iron. Water like a stone.
(Despite frozen pipes for 3 days, no running water, emergency sock stuffing insulation around the old window frames, it’s still worth it)

COPPER ROOTS CHANDELIER VII
BY JAMESPLUMB
Featured in our summer exhibition 'Casa al Mare', 'Copper Roots Chandelier VII' by Shropshire based design duo JAMESPLUMB is reminiscent of their organic engagement with land, craft and light.
Each lamp holder is created through the ritualistic act of digging holes in the ground, pouring in liquid lime crete, then letting it set over six days before digging them up and washing them. With the rods for the lights cemented in them, they then act as counterweights on contorted copper tubes. With the gently quivering copper and the weighted bulb holders dancing in a glorious, fragile equilibrium, the lights appear as trapeze artists on a copper tightrope negotiating the boundary between fragility and solidity, gravity and light.
Look back at JAMESPLUMB's exhibition 'Rooted' and view more of their works via the link in bio.
