Almost a year ago, I started the Hancock County Young Birders Club. Every week, I take high schoolers out birding for 5 hours around our local area. The program is free and we provide transportation, binoculars, field guides, and when it's hot, ice cream.
On May 23-24, the Young Birders Club will compete in Downeast Audubon's annual fundraiser, Birdathon, a birding marathon where teams attempt to see/hear as many species as they can in 24 hours. This year, the Young Birders Club will compete for the first time. Donations made to our team will go directly towards supporting this program.
