Today marks the release of a new @lifeband track - Turning In - and with it, a new visual offering. Myself and @luke_hallett_ took a drive out to spurn point and made something with our hands, a camera, various bits of glass, some lights and a tent. So lucky to be able to offer my contribution to the huge collaborative effort, along with so many sound people, that is the roll out of their upcoming album - ABSTRACT / NATURAL. A @wearehinterland production Label - @launchpadplus Watch, stream, pre-order the new album, go to a gig, send some love to LIFE HQ

Makin movies, makin moves Huge pleasure and privilege to start my year off with a Screen Yorkshire skills bootcamp. Connected with some amazing, like-minded and talented creatives who were also on the course. It’s great to see that shared love for the craft and I hope we cross paths again soon! I’ve definitely gained a lot more confidence not just in myself but that a career in the film industry isn’t completely impossible! Cheers to everyone involved and those who made this all possible.

From the studio: James Cooper James’ work circles repetition, contrast, movement and decay, often shaped by the relationship between people and place. For him, making begins with a simple need to create, and the connections that form through that process. During his time in the studio, James has been pushing beyond his comfort zone, stepping into directing and co-ordinating projects while building confidence in his ideas and finding a clearer voice with collaborators. He’s especially drawn to experimentation across pre-production and production, where ideas evolve through working alongside other creatives. James is part of CTRL, Hinterland Creative’s mentorship programme supporting emerging creatives through real-world projects and studio experience. @jamesmilocooper @lapsinglapsing

Visuals for LIFE - The Dollywaggon Such a huge huge privilege to collaborate with the band on this project, and to work with @luke_hallett_ on these visuals. Directed by me DOP - @luke_hallett_ Assisted by @marianne__bell and @grogglebog Emblem by @micklifecrisis Produced by @wearehinterland Full video is now up (link in bio) and you can stream the single to your heart’s content too. I think this is some of the band’s best stuff to date, and this track is the start of an era that I’m excited to see them enter into.

They have a real knack for melody and this new song is no exception! -Brought together by @wearehinterland -Design by @stewartbaxter Have a listen!

2025 felt like this. Too much to process. Feels like that more year on year. This year I want to be creating and communicating, more than I am consuming - just trying to get more of the good things out of the tiny computer full of everything ever. Stay safe out there. Happy new year. (I had this piece displayed @brew_hull for the ‘What Have We Seen?’ exhibition, but opted to keep the iPhone 8 that required constant power an opening night only thing - so here it is. The rest of mine and everyone else’s work is still on display there until 24th January!)
