metronome is officially published today. here it is resting cavalierly atop the pile of drafts that became it. it took ten years and three long weekends to write. thank you to everyone who has read it and said nice things so far. it’s enough to make one wish writing were only publishing. but the fecund agonies await me once more, somewhat unbelievably. and mama that’s? love
Mark your calendars! We’re celebrating James Loop’s Metronome and Alexis Almeida’s Caetano with readings by James, Alexis, Serena Solin and Eric Palgon at the Record Shop in Red Hook on Thursday, June 4th @ 7 PM. Come hangout! 🌊📚🎶☀️
last one in what ben has dubbed the “launch sequence.” then i’ll shut my pie hole for a sec. this is the one you should come to if you ever wanted to meet my parents. after party somewhere near.. gotta figure that out still. artwork by hart with my highlighters. he wanted to make me pay to use it. smart. if you don’t come you’ll be those people in the crossed out row
three coming up including “official” launch tomorrow thursday 4/23. katie gave me a new great pen for book signing (pictured). trust if you are getting sick of me i’m sicker of myself. but ariel (pictured) gave me great advice on publishing a book: “save your embarrassment for after”
Poet and translator Chris Daniels reading a poem of mine, “The Crossing,” from Metronome, last weekend in New Orleans. I find this reading very moving. I wrote this poem on an overnight ferry from Sète to Tangier, in February 2020, right before everything changed. Thanks Chris and Ricardo for the video.
