Evidence of the fastest growing sport in Jamaica! National Age Group Chess Championships Jamaica 2026 was a sight to see! Made possible by Amber Group, Tile City, Independence Park, Fleetwood and the Jamaica Chess Federation.
If Chess were a Storm, then Candidate Master Darren McKennis is currently the hurricane NO ONE can outrun. 🔥🔥🔥
McKennis has stretched his lead in the 1800+ Section to a full point after a commanding Round 5 victory over rising junior Jeremiah Farley.
Farley, despite the setback, clings firmly to second place. Meanwhile, Justin Kirton surged into third with 2.5 points after toppling Ronaldo Rochester in a battle that could only be described as controlled chaos.
Down in the 1799–1400 Section, Loki Clarke is not just leading, he’s dictating terms. With a flawless score, Clarke is playing like a man who has already seen the ending of the movie and decided to spoil it for everyone else.
Trailing behind him are Allan Herbert, President of the Barbados Chess Federation, and Nathan Simmons-Patterson, both trying to keep pace in what is quickly becoming a one-man show.
And then there’s the battlefield in the Unrated Section where perfection lives with Benjamin Farmer. Five rounds, five wins, zero mercy. Farmer has been slicing through the competition like a hot knife through butter, leaving scorched boards and shattered kings in his wake.
Sitting one point clear with a pristine 5/5, he looks untouchable… but whispers in the tournament hall suggest otherwise. Is secret preparation brewing??
🤫
Lurking in the shadows are William Deer and Rene Lashley, both on 4/5, quietly sharpening their blades. ♟️🔥
