From this day two months ago…
A matter of the heart
Dearest reader,
If you find yourself in possession of this print please take it as a sign of my upmost appreciation of your presence both on this earth and in my life.
I love you all dearly, and although valentines is traditionally for romantic love… taking into account the currently displaced love in my heart and also my tendency to be over the top, I thought it fitting to honour the other lovers in my life today.
This January I’ve been reading Bell Hooks, all about love, she talks about love being “the will to extend oneself for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth”, which I think is a beautiful sentiment. To nurture… to handle with care… to keep learning and I hope with all my heart that we continue to do this for one another’s spirits. Love isn’t only something that happens to you, although maybe at first, to continue lov-ing is a choice, it is an act.
I hope you can feel the love in this simple act.
Love and gratitude forever

Commissioned knit for @intotheburrowfestival yurt , curated by @chelsiecoates_
An invitation to surrender yourself to the burrows and step into a new world and a new way of being.
An exploration into the magical and folkloric mysteries hidden within the hills of Sussex. Akin to the magic created in the burrows the long man is a symbol of unknown, play and adventure. No one knows who created him and why, which leaves his origin up for speculation. I like the theory that the giant marks a gateway….. through which he is passing.
He becomes a portal to another land.
KNITTED TAPESTRY DYED BY HAND WITH NATURAL PIGMENT, ON LOCALLY SOURCED 100% WOOL
Impossible to put into words how lucky I feel to have shared such a beautiful experience with all these special people. I Learnt so much from each and every one of you… pure magic ☄️💫
I’m sure I’ve lived this year before, it carries the subtle familiarity of fluffy hair, cheap magazines and with it the unavoidable stench of disappointment. I can’t seem to shake the feeling that I’m living what has happened before- a reconstruction- in which each successive recall of an event is merely a recall of the last reconstruction.
Yesterday the 7 year old girl with the lily white skin asked me how many times I’d been to Africa. 0 times. I replied. Well I’ve been 4. Her tone boasting back at me.
It made me think back to a time when I was 7, when my heart and soul traveled to a distant land leaving my body abandoned on English ground.
Somewhere I could call home.
Someone I could call home.
