I wrote about Bifo Berardi’s heinous new book “Thinking Gaza” for @defectormedia Had to restrain myself from throwing this one across the room multiple times while reading. Not only deeply unserious as a work of theory, but also politically abhorrent.

Is international law worth saving? The international rules-based order has failed to end the genocide in Gaza, the war on Lebanon, the blockade of Cuba, or any of the US-led empire’s other imperialist crimes. But can socialists give up on the project of international law entirely? Join us on Saturday, May 9th at 4PM for a discussion with @jakeromm on socialism, international law, and the genocide in Palestine. Jake Romm is a legal scholar and human rights lawyer who has done some of the most important work in recent years on Palestine and international law, including working to bring IOF soldiers to justice in international and national courts. 📆 May 9, 4PM 📍 @woodbine.nyc , 414 Broadway, 3rd Floor 🎟️ Free with RSVP (🔗 in bio)

‼️ MONDAY, 7 pm Palestine time! 🟢 After more than two years of ongoing genocide in Gaza, many have pronounced the so-called “rules-based world order” dead. Gaza marks the first genocide to be livestreamed for the world to witness, enabled by individuals, corporations, and governments across the globe. Yet, if international law, the United Nations, and international courts alike failed to avert Gaza’s genocide, we must ask whether such an order ever meaningfully existed to begin with. 🔴 And now, as the US—once the self-proclaimed leader of this liberal paradigm—casts it aside in favor of more overt mechanisms of power projection, another pressing question emerges: What kind of world order is taking shape in its wake? 🟣 Join Al-Shabaka’s upcoming Policy Lab for a conversation on how Gaza helped shatter the old status quo and what that break reveals about the world being built in its wake. 🗣️ Al-Shabaka policy analyst @nouraerakat Noura Erakat & @hindrajabfoundation ’s @jakeromm with host @tariqks Registration link in our bio. #palestine #gaza #gazagenocide #usa #trump

JUSTICE IS OUR DEMAND: Jake Romm, the U.S. representative of the Hind Rajab Foundation, highlights the difference between justice and accountability for the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza, and how the movement can hold war criminals accountable for their crimes in the present, while working towards justice for Palestine in the future. The Hind Rajab Foundation works to prosecute Israeli war criminals in national courts around the world, a crucial step in documenting the atrocities they committed and holding them accountable for them. Romm emphasized that there can never be justice without a free Palestine, when the people who have been subjugated and dominated by this Israeli occupation are able to bring the perpetrators to justice themselves. So while we continue to do the necessary work of ensuring that these genociaires are held accountable for their crimes, we push forward in the struggle for a liberated Palestine, from the river to the sea.

“The culture of impunity that undergirds the daily atrocities committed in Gaza permeates all levels of the Israeli military, even if high-ranking officials face scrutiny or arrest warrants, and even this has been woefully lacking. Individual soldiers feel themselves beyond the reach of the law. This is readily apparent from the brazenness and glee with which Israeli soldiers document and publish their crimes on social media. In order to begin breaking this culture, states must impose consequences, not in a piecemeal fashion, not on a few of the worst individuals, but on all of them, everywhere. Only a concerted global effort will puncture this wall of impunity. This is why international mechanisms, though welcome and though an important aspect of our work, are not and ought not be the primary actors in bringing Israeli genociders to justice. International mechanisms, as we have seen, move slowly and suffer from a lack of resources and from a vulnerability to political meddling. They are therefore ill-equipped to handle the vast number of perpetrators who must be brought to trial. Instead, action must be territorialized. States must make themselves into sites of accountability.” From the expert testimony of Jake Romm, representative of Hind Rajab Foundation, at Gaza Tribunal Final Session. UPDATE: PEN America retracted their statement, stating: “On January 29, 2026, PEN America issued a statement on the abrupt cancellation of performances in New York and Los Angeles by an Israeli comedian, who has been accused by advocacy organizations of incitement to genocide in Gaza. On further consideration, PEN America has decided to withdraw this statement. We remain committed to open and respectful dialogue about the divisions that arise in the course of defending free expression.” On Jan. 20th, the @hindrajabfoundation filed a request for prosecution in the U.S. against Israeli "comedian" Guy Hochman for incitement to genocide. On Jan. 29th, @penamerica issued a press release condemning the cancellation of some of Hochman's U.S. performances in service of his "right" to incite genocide. Our response:

US representative of the @hindrajabfoundation , Jake Romm (@jakeromm ): "Guy Hochman continues to tour the United States, and for each moment that he is not arrested, the U.S. remains in violation of its international legal obligations. Despite the so-called “ceasefire” in Gaza—which has been anything but—Israeli 𝚐𝚎𝚗𝚘𝚌𝚒𝚍𝚎 of the Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank remains ongoing. Incitement to 𝚐𝚎𝚗𝚘𝚌𝚒𝚍𝚎 is a compounding crime, where each new moment of 𝚐𝚎𝚗𝚘𝚌𝚒𝚍𝚊𝚕 rhetoric adds further fuel to the fire. Given the nature of Hochman’s “comedy,” it is highly likely that each performance in the U.S. will be a site of incitement. As long as he is physically present in the country, the U.S. government has the ability and duty to investigate, arrest, and prosecute him for incitement to 𝚐𝚎𝚗𝚘𝚌𝚒𝚍𝚎. Nothing less will suffice." → Swipe for more ▬▬▬▬▬▬ Join the Hind Rajab Foundation’s legal mission to fight impunity. Become a monthly sponsor or make a one-time gift. THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES! As the so-called “ceasefire” in Gaza continues to be violated by Israel on all fronts; in bombing campaigns, in enforced famine, and in the restriction of construction materials necessary for Gazans to rebuild, we, in collaboration with The Riverside Church, are convening to clarify the ongoing situation in Gaza and discuss where we as a movement must go next. Alongside members of the Palestinian Youth Movement, Arab journalists Laila Al-Arian and Sharif Abdel Kouddous, Hind Rajab Legal Advisor Jake Romm, and Mahmoud Khalil, will confront the ongoing impasse and what it is we must do.
