One of those events that reminds you why we do this tour and just how cool it can be. Had so much fun competing in this event and watching everyone push the level. Really felt good in this one and wish I could’ve gone further but the momentum is there, onto the next one!! @wsl
I’m disappointed to learn of the new qualification system put into place by ISA. Those of us on the championship tour have been reaching out to ISA for months to find a common ground, but we have been cast aside, and the surfers voices have not been heard. Only taking 5 surfers from the WSL based off a half years worth of rankings is ludicrous. The previous qualification system gave everyone at WSL a fair chance to qualify as well as surfers from across the world at the ISA games. Now, many of us on the world tour from countries such as USA, Brazil, and Australia will not even have the chance to compete at ISA due to each country having 3 spots available to compete at the ISA games. As someone who has spent my whole life working to be on the WSL world tour, the highest level of competition in our sport, the thought of not having a fair opportunity to qualify for the Olympics is a real shame. It is an honour to compete at the Olympics and we want to ensure the pathway to get there is fair, equitable and respectful.
