Jake Longstreth’s solo exhibition, ‘Where We’re Going We Need Roads’, is currently on view in our Berlin gallery at Bleibtreustaße 45, until 25 April.
In his new works on paper, Longstreth layers close-up views of swaying eucalyptus leaves over the dissolving distances of a grey LA day. They appear in a wide register of colours: cool mints, warm olives, muted browns, pumpkin oranges, and unexpected magentas. The works provide a space for testing improvised composition. Longstreth’s leafy forms are painted swiftly, without revision: on paper there is only a single opportunity.
