Just received the new publication of @pinprestigemalaysia and can't wait for everyone to read the magazine article!
Sitting down for this interview, I was not sure what to expect. But I am proud of finally finding the words to explain my "emotional armour" when negativity came a-knockin' late 2021 in the form of senseless cyberbullying. It's also interesting to analyse how this whole ordeal has affected the direction of my art.

Being part of this collab campaign with @hiltonkualalumpur really put me in touch with all my artistic roots
- started off with a sketch on paper📝
- moved on to a deep exploration of oriental brush calligraphy with the theme of #midaautumnfestival 🖌️
- transposed everything into digital format for that final illustration mutation with the dragons 🐉
The lantern 🏮 created is a mashup of all that fiery goodness that we managed to fit in a mooncake box.

Medium: Mixed Media - epoxy resin, acrylic on canvas
Deconstructed the mandarin word “Xiao” (笑) laugh/smile” and created this piece with the popular 😀 emoji, layered underneath a translucent sculpture.
The “distortion” of the warped layer really intensifies the expression and, thus, makes it more “siao” (hokkien for “crazy”)

So proud to share my recently completed art works commissioned by Interior Design and Builder Company Dream Team Ventures Malaysia.
We had been discussing about these vibrant pieces for months, exchanging ideas about their team’s work ethics, their exciting projects and touching stories before I had started creating.
Ultimately I wanted to produce something that not only created a sense of wonder for everyone who contributed their work days to the company, but also attach meaningful positive memories when they look into the textures, shapes and colours. I was really inspired by the gem-like properties of amber and wanted to “capture” all the natural positive energies brought forth by various plants. Almost like preserved fossils of memories encased in the walls.
I also included “hidden” calligraphy words into the artworks specifically designed for the team to “discover” slowly as they carried out their responsibilities around it’s premise, bringing a sense of progressive play into the common area.
I will be sharing more about these art works in the coming weeks because SO. MUCH. TO. TELL. YOU. haha.
