Recently I had the opportunity to design a logo and brand identity for Hiraya, an innovative ice skating coaching company helping skaters of all levels transform their dreams into reality.
Derived from the Filipino word meaning “the fruit of one’s dreams and imagination,” Hiraya is more than coaching; it’s a journey of growth, guiding skaters of all levels to turn their aspirations into reality.
At the heart of Hiraya’s identity is the butterfly — a symbol of transformation, freedom, and grace. Just as skaters evolve through discipline and artistry, the butterfly reminds us that small, deliberate steps can lead to monumental change.

Portfolio student Jaden Gray did a great job on his coffee packaging for Wakey Wakey. The hand lettered logo and original packaging is from the typographic label project in Advanced Type, but was expanded and photographed in Portfolio. We are excited to share more of our portfolio students’ work at our student show this June.
