Andy was one of the primary reasons we started performing this song live in 2024. It’s devastating that the day of its rerelease is the same day we mourn his life. I always secretly hoped Andy liked this song. I wrote it before meeting him, but having the confidence to sing it in front of a crowd was 100% inspired by him and the emotional vulnerableness he displayed in his artistry. The obvious catharsis a crowd displayed while dancing and screaming along to his music made me think I also could write those kinds of songs that made people want to cry and hold their lighters above their head. Anything I’ve made after meeting Andy has included his influence on me, as I’m sure it has to anyone else who knew him. This song is about a close friend leaving town forever. Rest In Peace Andy
