Inside the elevated modular gallery overlooking Copenhagen’s Børsen, history is felt through the senses. JAC Studios’ exhibition design moves away from static digital screens, opting instead for a heavy, physical engagement with architectural history. The interior is a tactile study of resilience: visitors are invited to feel the grit of the 40 percent of original bricks salvaged from the debris, while bespoke furniture combines charred sandstone fragments with the deep warmth of solid oak.
Every intervention within the industrial steel shells is meticulously proportioned to mirror the formal language of the 17th-century stock exchange. From corrugated steel drawers containing archival blueprints to the physical presence of recovered totems from the building’s spire, the space transforms historical trauma into a tangible narrative of renewal. It is a rare, transparent look at craftsmanship as a public spectacle, capturing the raw energy of a city meticulously rebuilding its soul.

JAC Studios, together with By & Havn, has created an exhibition in which the main concept is characterised by the original furnishings found in the Harbour Master’s attic at Nordre Toldbod.
The original furnishings have been reused and combined with new exhibition structures made of natural and red-stained ash wood with brass details, drawing parallels to the original architecture of the space.

The exhibition “Behind the Façade – Discover the Architecture of the Glyptotek” is a journey through the development of The Glyptotek building, an architectural monument and extraordinary setting for the Glyptotek’s antiquities and 19th-century art.
The original exhibition was temporary but elements of it can still be viewed as part of Glyptoteket’s permanent exhibition.
