Today I condemned both Labor and the Liberals for supporting developer-led planning reforms and called on the Premier @chrisminnsmp and the Minister for Planning @paulscullymp to come to Mona Vale and talk to affected residents.
Planning and development should be driven by the existing planning controls under our LEP and be infrastructure led.

Last Week I had the opportunity to join a panel discussion for the Secondary School Leadership Program, now in its impressive 51st year!
I spoke with more than 100 student leaders from secondary schools across NSW, answered their questions, heard their ideas, and witnessed their enthusiasm, which was genuinely inspiring.
Programs like these remind me how bright the future looks when young people are given the space to lead, explore, and challenge the world around them.
A huge thank you to the Education and Engagement Team at @NSWParliament and of course to all the student leaders, who made the session so engaging!
Sunday was a momentous day for surfers’ safety. I joined the Psillakis Family, Minister for Agriculture, Member for Wakehurst, Surfing NSW, Mona Vale Boardriders, ParaSurfing and Cr Hackman at Mona Vale to see the expanded rollout of Boardrider shark surveillance drones now reaching 60 clubs across NSW.
Boardrider comps will now have drone coverage, using their own drones and volunteers to detect the water for sharks and help rebuild confidence in the water.
Importantly, this rollout also honours the legacy of Mercury Psillakis from Long Reef Boardriders. His impact on the community is lasting, and I want to acknowledge the Psillakis family for their tireless advocacy in pushing for stronger beach safety measures.
Investing in initiatives like this protects our community while keeping our beaches open and accessible.
This is only the beginning. Surfers are key stakeholders and need to continue to have their voice heard. We need extended drone coverage for SLSC drones to include dawn to dusk throughout the year and leverage the powers of AI to build data on shark numbers and behaviour and update the community on risk. There are loads of improvements to make in operations, data use, management and communication to the community and we will continue to work together to make NSW a world leader in shark mitigation.

Upcoming legislation in NSW Parliament. I'll be consulting with key stakeholders, reviewing those who have already contacted me about these issues and welcome any comments from the Pittwater community. Please email [email protected]
Circular economy in action♻️.
Drop your old batteries in the bins provided at your local shopping centres to do your bit for the circular economy!
I joined Member for Blue Mountains Trish Doyle MP and Spyro from EcoCycle to talk about how NSW can do battery waste differently, reducing what goes to landfill, recovering valuable materials, and supporting practical solutions that keep resources in use for longer.
As co-chairs of the Parliamentary Friends of Circular Economy, Ms Doyle and I are working to bring more focus to smarter recycling, better product stewardship and the local jobs that can come from building a stronger circular economy.
Good for the environment, good for communities, and good for the future.

A major milestone for the Northern Beaches today, our hospital is now back in public hands.
After years of community advocacy, this transition brings the focus back where it belongs: patient care, safety and accountability. Over 96% of staff have been retained by NSW Health, ensuring continuity of care for our community.
Private services will continue, however there have been some reductions including cranial but mostly locals have confidence and choice while the long-term model is finalised.
This is an important step forward, but we must keep pushing to ensure the hospital delivers the high-quality care our community deserves.
NORTHERN BEACHES HOSPITAL GOES PUBLIC TOMORROW
Healthscope hands over the keys to Northern Beaches Hospital to NSW Health tomorrow.
A new era for healthcare on the Northern Beaches is beginning, with a truly public hospital for our community.
Despite some recent premature reporting, NSW Health has now published the new Clinical Services Plan in full, which details a clear expansion of services at our local hospital. More detailed information at the link in my bio.
Crucially, private services have been retained at the hospital, maximising choice for patients.
Taking over a near 500 bed operational hospital is a big complex task. Our whole community is indebted to all the staff working tirelessly behind the scenes to make it happen. Northern Beaches local Simon Hill has led this work and is the new General Manager. It was great to catch up with him, together with Jacqui Scruby, ahead of the transition this week.
His message is clear: the future is bright for Northern Beaches Hospital. It’s business as usual as during the handover this week. From there, we will begin to see the many benefits of the hospital becoming part of NSW Health.
Under public management, Northern Beaches Hospital will have:
- More staff, better conditions
- Expanded services for public patients
- Better integration between hospital and community health services
Huge thanks to all the dedicated staff at the hospital. I will be thinking of you all during this momentous week.
To everyone who has worked hard to advocate for this outcome - congratulations.
Onwards and upwards!

Today is Earth Day, it's a reminder that the places we love don’t stay that way by accident.
From our beaches to our bushland, every small action adds up. Whether it’s reducing waste, protecting local habitat, or simply treading more lightly, it all matters.
Real change starts locally, and it starts with us.
There are plenty of local organisation aimed at preserving our Earth or our local flora and fauna see some of their instagram pages below and get involved:
