Come join us at the Marjorie Evans Gallery at the Sunset Center in Carmel on Thursday, May 7th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm for the opening reception of “A Light Exists in Spring”. It features work from over 50 artists from the Center for Photographic Arts team. I’ll be showing my image, Blue Afternoon, which is part of a new project I am working on which combines AI and with images I have photographed to create surrealist, cinematic scenes of women in the Hopper era. A time shortly after the war when roles began to be questioned, and things began to change quickly. #feminemystique #feminismart #edwardhopperinspired #narrativephotography
The Red Purse by Jacque Rupp
The Red Purse is about love, loss, andrebuilding. Shortly after the death of her husband, Rupp bought a red purse, which became deeply personal to the artist. As a young widow, the red purse represented freedom in an otherwise dark and uncertain time.
Jacque Rupp is a documentary and fine art photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. A visual storyteller, Rupp uses the camera to challenge and question, offering a unique perspective on the world around us. In her most recent work, Rupp focuses on womanhood; using herself and her experiences. as the subject matter, Rupp ventures off into the imagined, exploring issues of identity and purpose. Her photographs are held in private collections and have been exhibited widely in juried shows and publications, and was selected as a Critical Mass 2022 and 2023 finalist.

The Red Purse is available to purchase through the Daylight Books website.

🚨 New show opening @harveymilkphoto 🚨
This November 7th Castro Art Walk from 5:00-8:00 stop #3 @harveymilkphoto is opening their show "Into the Complete Unknown" featuring artists @atelierlemay@jacquerupp@marnaclarke@charlottamh and @rohinaphoto
Into the Complete Unknown presents five women artists whose photography emerges from life-altering experiences of loss, upheaval, and resilience. Their work confronts moments of rupture—some documenting transitions as they unfold, others reflecting with the distance of time, tracing the emotional and psychological aftermath they leave behind.
Together, these images reveal strength and dignity in uncertainty, showing that wisdom is not found in resolution, but in the ongoing act of moving through the unknown.
Come check it out with us at the November Castro Art Walk! Sign up with the link in bio :)
