With 2024 almost over I wanted to express how thankful I am to have gotten to be behind a screen in so many cool places this year (and with so many great people). Forever feeling appreciation for the fantastic individuals who I get to 1st for, and the crew I’m lucky enough to work alongside. Here’s to 2024. Lets go 2025 šŸ’Ŗ

Rather than letting these photos rot in my camera roll, I figured it’d be as good a time as any to post them. We rigged out a backpack rig for this shoot for a dance sequence to keep it nice and light for the operator (as light as the Alexa35 can be with Cooke S4s). Took the Teradek, B-Mount Batteries off the camera and popped em right on the operator’s back for that nice weight distribution. Also removed the top handle, Spidergrip extensions, and anything else I could to kill weight. Got to run with an OG homie on this set: DP @brody_carmichael , one of the first people I worked with in Austin and a good friend 🤠 I think the project has over a million views on YouTube now too, so that’s neat.

With a ā€œcoldā€ front about to hit, looking back at the hot summertime commercial days. Thankful for these people and many more. Yeehaw 🤠 šŸ“ø: @josh_second for the third pic

One more film post before I go on vacation for the first time in two years. Good people make for good sets. The Austin/Texas film community is one of the most supportive, positive communities with some of my closest friends. I don’t think about it often enough how lucky I am to be a part of this group. Please don’t take it for granted. šŸ“ø @pillajer

Film, (Friends) and Muffins Had a lot of fun recently working on a 16mm project with some old and new homies. The sets were nuts from us flooding a set to the walls literally lifting off the ground as we dollied between them. Really fun experience. Hope to see these people again soon. šŸ“ø from the legend himself @michaelr.zumaya

First Complete Burano Build with a set of Cooke SP.3s for my friends over @bigspringmedia with DP @joeyhuntdp Impressions of the Burano so far - very solid camera for the cost and size. I like the menu system better than the FX systems by a mile, like a mini Venice in that regard. Camera didn’t tear through batteries which was nice. Arri cage for the Burano is great and I believe everyone Burano owner/rental house should have it. Info out is a bit funky and unfortunately they don’t have a ā€œSafeā€ mode that lets you keep the data in the black frame surrounding the image (you have to keep the data on top of the image unless you kill the data to the monitor). Media works well as long as you use only 1TB or greater cards from Sony. One downside is that the EVF Loop ā€œSolutionā€ looks passable but not good. Should really have a dedicated EVF accessory for this camera. I still need to test how Rotapolas work with the variable ND because theoretically this should be an issue. It was bad on the FX series of cameras but on initial tests from others somehow it doesn’t seem to be much of an issue with the Burano but we’ll see. IR pollution with internal ND also wasn’t as big of an issue as it seems online but we didn’t test it much so would still be worth having an additional IR cut filter in the kit to handle it when you’re shooting black fabric in high IR environments. Other than that, pretty impressed. Definitely enjoyable to work with. #sonyburano #burano #soncycinema #focuspuller #focuspulleratwork #1stac #lifeonset #camerabuild #cinemabuild #firstassistantcamera #cinemarig

Before we get too far from 2023, wanted to say how lucky and thankful I feel that I got so many great opportunities in 2023. For all of the old friends I worked with and all of the new ones I made. Met some talented, driven individuals and I’m beyond grateful to have worked along side and for. Thank you. Here’s to a great 2024 #1staclife #focuspulleratwork #filmmaking

Quick weekend build pic post of an Arri SR2 I built for a job with @davidwells_dp and @jpoot recently Have some ideas on improving the build in the future but it was a solid starting point. Go shoot film. #16mmfilm #Arriflex #sr2 #focuspuller #focuspulleratwork #kodakshootfilm
