This Labor Day, as the President threatens to send the National Guard into Chicago, we should remember the Pullman Strike of 1894, when workers demanding fair pay were met with soldiers and gunfire. Over 20 were killed. Out of that bloodshed, Labor Day was created. A holiday born from violence against working people is a reminder: every right we have was fought for, and unions in the United States of America are still worth fighting for today.
