⌭ EXHIBITION REPORT ⌭ 05 / 08 𝘈 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘱 28.11.2025 → 13.12.2025 @laidbug_tyo 🎌 FONTAINE DU CHAGRIN LES LARMES DU DIABLE (Installation), 2025 Yi Cheng Lee & Jack Tezam Mixed media Variable dimensions On raconte que le diable aurait fondé trois villages en lançant sur les terres d’Auvergne trois de ses cheveux noirs, et qu’il provoqua au passage un incendie si violent que la paroisse de Roussy en fut marquée au fer rouge, gardant l’odeur de brûlé qui lui donna son nom. Plus au sud, le lac Pavin, « l’effroyable », occupe le cratère du plus jeune et du plus profond volcan de la région. Ses eaux noires et anoxiques, réputées mortelles, ont nourri de nombreuses légendes. L’une d’elles raconte qu’il y a bien longtemps, une jeune femme attira l’attention du diable qui, éconduit par cette dernière, s’assit sur un rocher et pleura des jours et des nuits durant, engloutissant le village de Besse sous des eaux diluviennes. Pensant avoir noyé sa bien-aimée, il se jeta à son tour dans le cratère, où il demeure depuis — sa présence se manifesterait encore par des émanations de gaz, des eaux tourbillonnantes et d’épaisses brumes stagnantes à la surface. Aujourd’hui encore, nul n’ose s’y aventurer, de peur d’y être happé.

@laidbug_tyo 🎌 with @yichengleee « Ça faisait des années que je voulais faire un projet autour du lac du Diable. En faire 666 fois le tour, d’une traite, me paraissait être le meilleur moyen d’habiter ses rives, d’en connaître les moindres recoins, et d’en comprendre les maléfices… Mais même si le tour du lac ne prend guère plus d’une heure à pied, et relève davantage de la balade dominicale que de l’aventure extraordinaire ; pour arriver à mon compte, (à raison de 8 heures de marche par jour), il m’aurait fallu presque trois mois, à tourner en rond, pour parcourir les 1 800 km que constitue ce pèlerinage noir. Partie remise… » “ I’ve wanted to do a project about Devil’s Lake for years. Walking its loop 666 times in one go felt like the best way to inhabit its shores, learn every last corner, and understand its curses… But even if a lap takes barely more than an hour on foot, and is closer to a Sunday stroll than an extraordinary adventure, to reach my number — at 8 hours of walking a day—it would have taken me almost three months, going round and round, to cover the 1,800 km that make up this black pilgrimage. 01 / 08 The project 𝘈 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘱 is less concerned with the Massif Central itself 
than with the idea we construct of it. After all the Massif Central does not truly exist: it is 
a constellation of regions and provinces, only belatedly gathered under a single name. An unknown kingdom, with blurred and uneven contours, dissolving into the mist… This volcanic land, punctuated by telluric emanations, has long fuelled a popular imagination marked by the presence of the devil. All of this is intimately connected to what is presented here. With contributions from

Jack Tezam, a native of France, has worked while moving between Paris and his birthplace in the Massif Central region of central-southern France. Since 2008, he has been a founding member of various artist collectives, including 4th dimension and Road Dogs, presenting works in a wide range of formats inspired by his many exploratory experiences. In February 2023, he held his solo exhibition “EXPÉRIENCE DISTORSION” at LAID BUG. From November 2025, he will relocate his base to Taipei (Taiwan) to continue his activities. This exhibition at LAID BUG, his second there, features works centered on the Massif Central, a region dear to Jack. Fascinated by the mountainous terrain shaped by volcanic activity, Jack has visited repeatedly over nearly two decades, transforming these experiences into his work. At this major turning point—leaving his homeland to relocate to Taiwan, a new volcanic stronghold—Jack embarked on a final expedition with companions to the familiar volcanic terrain he had visited so many times before. The act of retracing his footsteps—in memory, in records, on-site, and above all in drawing—serves as a ritual to draw a line under past habits and move towards new places. Titled “A PATH THROUGH THE LOOP,” the exhibition consists of photography, drawing, and installation. This exhibition also includes the participation of Yi Cheng Lee @yichengleee (Taiwan) and Vaisseau terre @vaisseauterre (France). A limited-edition book, ALLTAR III, published in 2024 by a mysterious fellowship, documenting four months of communal life in the forest through photographs, texts, and drawings, will also be available.The limited-edition work AZIMUT BRUTAL, created specifically for this exhibition, will likewise be offered.
