🏴 Is The EPL Overrated? 🏴
We played another game of ‘Overrated Or Underrated’ on the latest episode - tackling topics like #GTA NPC Lyndon Dykes, playing out from the back, and the English Premier League.
We all know the #EPL is flush with cash, with clubs generating revenues in the billions every season, but is it overrated?
Some supporters think the league has become too corporate, too predictable, and even boring. And while most #ScottishPremiership supporters get frustrated by their club’s limitations in the transfer market, it seems like most wouldn’t want to see the #SPFL become more similar to the #PremierLeague.
What’s your view on the EPL? Best in the world, or soulless and dull? Let us know in the comments!

🏴 The Ageing Scotland Squad 🏴
When #SteveClarke named his #ScotlandNT squad for the recent friendlies against Japan and the Ivory Coast, nearly half of the players were 30 or older.
The likes of John McGinn, Andy Robertson, and Lyndon Dykes all fall into that bracket, with Kieran Tierney, John Souttar, and Scott McTominay not far behind.
The average age of the latest squad was 28.2 years, which is slightly higher than the oldest squads at the 2022 #WorldCup - making some supporters concerned we’ll struggle when key players retire.
There’s no doubt we’ve got exceptional young players, like Lennon Miller and Ben Gannon-Doak, but should we be putting more emphasis on building up the next generation of talent now?
Let us know what you think, and which young players you’d like to see given a chance, in the comments!

If you could introduce one rule to improve #ScottishFootball, what would it be? 🏴
The #SPFL removed the requirement for #ScottishPremiership clubs to field at least three U21 players in their matchday squads back in the 2013/14 season.
But according to reports, #FIFA could be set to follow Mark’s advice, and introduce a rule requiring teams to have at least one homegrown player on the field at all times. The proposal will be explored further over a twelve-month consultation period before being formally revisited in a year’s time.
Would you like to see #SPFL clubs forced to play their best academy products, or are there any other rules you’d like to see introduced to improve the national game?

🇺🇲 World Cup Courtside Seats 🇺🇲
As the US prepares to host this summer’s #WorldCup, President #DonaldTrump weighed-in on controversial ticket prices, telling journalists “I wouldn’t pay for it either, to be honest with you”.
He’s not the first to share concerns about the cost of attending the tournament, including many #Scotland supporters who face massive (and growing) prices on tickets, accommodation, and travel.
The latest idea to irritate supporters is the introduction of premium “front row seats”, an idea that #FIFA seems to have cynically stolen from the NBA, drawing widespread criticism.
Have you been priced out of following the #ScotlandNT this summer? Tell us how you feel about FIFA’s approach to pricing in the comments!

Premiership B Teams in the SPFL?
#Hearts and #Celtic currently have B teams playing in the #LowlandLeague, and #Rangers withdrew theirs before the 2025/6 season, but should colts teams be allowed to feature in the SPFL?
In Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands, B teams are able to play 2nd tier football, and some people argue this gives top youth talent more opportunities to progress.
B teams provided a pathway for top talent like Raul, Lionel Messi, and Thomas Muller to get minutes, play meaningful games, and compete with professionals.
So should #ScottishFootball follow nations on the continent, or is it more important to protect clubs in the pyramid who might be locked out of promotion opportunities by Premiership colts sides? Is the new ‘Cooperation Agreement’ system a better option for player development anyway?
Tell us what YOU think in the comments!

🏴 Clarke’s Squad Selection 🏴
The #ScotlandNT faced Japan and the Ivory Coast in March as they gear up for this summer’s #WorldCup
Both games were uninspiring 1-0 defeats, but a lot of Scotland fans were more concerned about Steve Clarke’s squad selections.
Many in the #TartanArmy were hoping for promising, on-form players like #HOMFC left-back Harry Milne, Falkirk midfielder Calvin Miller and Udinese’s Lennon Miller to be (more) involved.
Instead, Clarke largely stuck to tried and tested options, with some supporters worrying if it leaves his pool of available players too thin.
Scotland still have warm-up games against Curacao and Bolivia before the tournament kicks off, so who would you like to see #SteveClarke involve in those games?

❌ Marching Orders ❌
We tried a new feature on the latest episode - with Mark, Ray and Jack telling us which aspects of #ScottishFootball they’d send for an early bath.
If you could only get rid of one of these from the #spfl, which would you pick:
1 - VAR
2 - Plastic Pitches
3 - The 12-team #ScottishPremiership
Let us know in the comments and tell us if you’ve got any topics to include in the next edition of Marching Orders!

Do Managers Have a Shelf Life?
Diego Simeone has led Atlético Madrid for more than fourteen years - picking up two La Liga titles, two Europa League wins, and a Copa del Rey (+ at least one mortgage).
In his time as manager, he has cemented Los Colchoneros as Spain’s third club, and even disrupted the duopoly of Real and Barcelona. A legacy that took time to build.
By contrast, the average managerial gig in #ScottishFootball lasts less than 18 months, and this season has seen notable sackings at clubs like #Rangers, #Celtic and #Aberdeen.
So is that too short, and are #spfl clubs ditching bosses before they have time to build something special? Tell us in the comments below!

🫰 The Price of Football Kits 🫰
The new #ScotlandNT away kit might be stunning, but it doesn’t come cheap.
The nostalgic, scarlet-red top harkens back to kits from the 1980s. Supporters who want to grab it before this summer’s #worldcup will have to fork over £75 for adult sizes... If they pick up an official one.
How do you feel about #footballkit prices? Do questionable design choices make it harder to justify? Let us know in the comments.
