Thanks to everyone who made it out to the show @stowaway_la which closed last Saturday. It was such a pleasure to share this body of work which came together as a response to the space and as an attempt to allow the paintings to arrive with more immediacy.
Here is a fragment of the text by Edward Sterrett:
"The recent paintings have surfaced the photographic dimension of the work in a way which invites this kind of looking. One has the sense that the works are full of details whose legibility might reward recognition. They do, but the work also remains stubbornly, gorgeously, somewhat melancholically, absorbed in the material effects of its own processes, which are ultimately about the messy, belabored and beloved uncertainty of memory, about the ambiguity of a symbol and its content, and about the peculiarly personal and idiosyncratic ways in which we do and do not see ourselves.”

My exhibition Some of All Parts closes this Saturday February 1st from 2:00 - 4:00pm at the College of Creative Studies Art Gallery at UC Santa Barbara. The closing reception will feature a restaging of Osten Cetto: Four Snakes, a multimedia installation and performance by Olivia Camfield, Celeste Camfield, Woodrow Hunt and Brett Marcom. Their piece debuted at PICA’s TBA Festival last September and when I saw it I was blown away. We’ll be having a panel discussion in the gallery after the performance at 3:00pm.
Thanks to @kimwantscoffee for curating this exhibition and working tirelessly to make it happen, @ccs_artgallery and @ucsb.aiisa for offering their space and support, @ccccdddgg for providing a beautiful exhibition text, @artifaxphto for their excellent documentation and @outeroutlet@egg.t.h.o.t@wo___od and @djfarmersonly for coming out to California to share their work.
