In honor of Black History Month I want to share these clips of the Paul Taylor Scholarship Ensemble dancing ‘Battle Etude’ choreographed by Robert Battle!
Robert Battle is a prolific dancer, choreographer and leader in the New York City dance community. He has been the Artistic Director at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, and before that he led his own company- Battleworks Dance Company. He is now a resident choreographer at the Paul Taylor Dance Company, and he entrusted the Paul Taylor Scholarship ensemble to perform this work. I loved every minute of the rehearsal process working with the Teen Ensemble and being led by Erika Pujic.
This performance took place @taylor_dancecenter for their Wellness Day last month. Thank you to the community @taylor_dancecenter and thank you to my friends and family who came out to support me!

thank you to everyone who’ve walked by my side. you have helped me learn, change and grow into more of the person that I want to be. thank you to my partner. I love you more than words can express. thank you to all of the artists; drag queens, dancers, singers, actors, muas, writers, visual artists, fashion designers who have inspired me.
i move into the new year and i bring all of you with me.
the state of the world and this country is not lost on me. i invite everyone seeing this post to continue living your life with joy and love. make smart decisions with your vote in the midterm elections this year. inform yourself. read history. listen to people who are different than you. make sure everything you put out into the world is intentional. believe in yourself. bet on yourself. don’t join in other’s hate, and keep any hate to yourself. seriously don’t share hate. do your best to get rid of it. learn to love yourself. share your art, joy and knowledge with the world.
