Team, assemble 🤍 Jack by popular demand! We are very excited to announce that former chef in residence Jack Short is back in town and joining us for good as our new head chef. Those who tried Jack’s food while he was here last month would know that he cooks with a lot of love, care and flavour. He has fallen in love with the west coast energy here in Boorloo and is very happy to be making it home. It’s a really exciting step for us to welcome more stability to the kitchen. We’ve hosted five different chefs here since we took over in December, and while these back-to-back residencies have been thrilling, we found such a perfect fit in Jack and all wanted to explore that sense of possibility further. We’ll still have different chefs coming through for short residencies, takeovers and events, but Jack will be at the helm. We will soon be announcing our next chef in residence coming in late November – stay tuned for that! For now, we welcome Jack to the team with huge excitement for the future, joining Amber, Sam, Alex, Banjo, Nina and Tom. We look forward to sharing more about his menu shortly!

A warm welcome to our new chef in residence @bigbatchbechamel ~ Jack Short ~ here for three weeks only! He’s busy detailing King George whiting, making agnolotti and whipping up pavlova for you all. Open for dinner tonight and tomorrow night from 4pm. Saturday we have bookings available for lunch and dinner, open from 12pm. On Sunday we have Jack’s first $55 set Sunday lunch — one of only three you’ll get the chance to enjoy while he’s here. Pressed lamb is on the menu! Monday night we’re open from 4pm as usual, with our waste-free chalkboard menu and special bottles at takeaway prices. NEXT CHEF IN RESIDENCE ~ Jack Short (Melbourne), August 8 - 26. ~ Three weeks only! We’re excited to welcome our first interstate chef in residence: the former head chef of Melbourne’s Bar Romantica, Jack Short (@bigbatchbechamel ). One of Melbourne’s most exciting up and coming young chefs, Jack was also the former sous chef at dear friend @manze_melbourne who visited us back in May. Jack is joining us for three weeks only, so we strongly recommend booking in advance to make sure you get to enjoy his food before he heads back east. His menu will change regularly, channeling his produce-driven and slightly nostalgic approach.
