Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I got this melodica for Christmas and I’ve been learning some Irish tunes on it. American country music has a lot to thank the Irish for — country has roots in bluegrass, and bluegrass has roots in Irish traditional folk music. Sometimes you don’t need lyrics, just a good tune! Two years ago I became a winner of Tennessee Songwriters Week, a statewide songwriting competition. Tonight, I got to be a judge in a qualifying round for TSW!
This was such a cool experience. My fellow judges were award-winning music industry professionals. (Who let ME in the door?) We heard original music from 19 talented songwriters and we had to narrow it down to 2 semi-finalists and a runner-up. What a tough decision!! Wonderful job to all of the performers.

This art form has been on the backburner for a while due to my endeavors in music. But recently, I’ve become fascinated with cymatics (the study of visualizing sound) and it has reignited my love for photography. I’ve even created a new photographic style called Cymaprojection™.
