Happy 2nd Birthday to our Vin boy! We are so proud of the beautiful boy you are growing in to. We love your cheeky smile and the way you always try to make us laugh. We love your big cuddles and kisses and how you always say thank you. We love how much you love your sister and how you are learning how to play together and be there for each other. We love how you have to have everything a certain way (including how I do my hair!), how you love playing pretend, reading books and are so happy outside.

50km with a few mates last weekend. The perfect send-off to a quiet stretch with no events. Day 1 of Sydney Marathon training kicks off today.

Ultra-Trail Kosciusko 100kms. 40-107.1kms.
Hit the wall at about 55kms. I couldn’t stomach any fuel or water. I was nauseous and felt like I needed to vomit. Seeing Jimmy at Perisher at the 62km aid station gave me a second wind. Fresh socks and shoes felt amazing but it was short lived. It rained heavily for the next 5hrs and I was saturated for a the rest of the race. The descent to Bullocks Flat was wet and slippery and when I arrived I was pretty deflated. Jimmy forced me to eat and we set off into the dark.
The next 19kms were a grind. Cold and wet and slowly counting down the kms to Thredbo. Fortunately the rain had stopped. 93kms down, and 2509m of climbing. A quick sit to drink some flat coke and we were off. Jimmy ran for the first 100m with me and sent me on my way. The next climb was brutal and the decent was worse. My head torches had both died so I was on emergency power and could hardly see. It was grim but the finish line was within reach.
107.1km, 3214m elevation in 15hrs, 57minutes.
Absolutely amazing race. Much more a mental struggle than physical one. Proud of the journey and ready for the next one.

Ultra-Trail Kosci 100km. What a day! Proud of myself for putting in the work and enjoying the experience. Thankful to @laurenlsutton and the family for tolerating my training and maybe not understanding why I would want to run 100kms but letting me obsess over it anyway. Grateful to have friends to train with along the journey and especially @jamesdelaney for crewing me on the day.
First 40km recap.
Atmosphere was incredible. Vibes were high and body was feeling amazing.
Easy 16kms to the first aid station. Climbed 425m. Went through the starting gate in 235th position and came in at Charlottes Pass at 166th.
Quick stop for water and gels and started the climb to Kosciusko summit. Took it pretty easy on the climb but struggled with cramps in my calves at 25kms. Arrived at the summit in 179th after 916m total climbing.
During the decent of Kosciusko, multiple thunder storms rolled through and the race directors decided it was not safe to continue until the storms had passed. I had made it back up to 166th when we arrived at Charlottes Pass Lookout.
Energy levels were good and legs were feeling strong. I was still dealing with cramps (stuck around until about 65kms) but the biggest challenge was mentally starting again after a forced break and knowing we would be finishing 2 and a half hours later than originally planned.
I’m glad I left the aid station unknowing of what was actually coming over the next 60kms.
