The marathon is a teacher of consistency and focus. While it may seem like only one day matters, the truth is that they all do, because the most surefire way to execute on a specific day is to develop the habit of executing on each and every day.
Our team of @mercie_04 , @paigestoner11 (2:26:34), @masai_alex (9th, 2:05:32), and @wkiptoo1 (2:07:55, PR) had a good day in Boston, highlighted by Mercy's 4th place finish in 2:20:30, the best @wmmajors result by a @hoka@naz_elite woman in team history.
But these performances were a reflection of the many days that preceded race day, and the way this group of athletes consistently executed every piece of their preparation.
The 2026 @bostonmarathon was another step forward for this team.
We will keep learning.
We will keep growing.
We will keep flying. 🪽
From kissing crowd members to a man finishing the race 58 times, the Boston Marathon has it all.
Being the longest annual marathon in the world, this race brings iconic history, energy, and excitement. Here’s what race day looks like for our runners.

Running related to music.
One of the many analogies, successful professional Coach Jack Mullaney teaches in my podcast with him.

Most coaches talk about “the grind.”
Jack Mullaney talks about heating the room.
It’s a one-degree-per-day analogy he uses with his athletes — and it explains why most runners quit right before the breakthrough.
Jack Mullaney — Head Coach of HOKA NAZ Elite, the team behind Alex Masai’s 2:04:37 marathon and a wave of team records since 2023.
In this episode:
→ Why he compares elite athletes to surgeons and firefighters — and what that means for how they show up on hard days
→ The “casino analogy” he uses to explain why pro running struggles to grow — and what the sport is getting wrong
→ How Alex Masai executed three straight marathon training blocks to the letter without missing a single workout
→ Why the best coaching skill isn’t writing plans — it’s mastering the audible
→ His nightly notebook ritual that keeps his five core values driving every decision
He also dropped this: “Anytime communication falters, negativity fills the gap.” That one line explains more coaching failures than any training theory ever will.

The first guest interview of 2026 is LIVE!
Loved this conversation with @jackmullaney29 on the Win More, Live Better podcast.
“Good coaching might be teaching you to perform when the lights are on, but great coaching is teaching you how to live when the lights go out.”
“Some of the best coaches I ever had didn’t just teach you how to win, they taught you how to live.”
If you’re looking for a masterclass on being a values-driven coach and leader, then I highly recommend checking out the full conversation.
